I'd take a GTO over the G8 any day, but if the G8 came in a 2-door then I would take the G8 over the GTO. The *** end of the G8 is just gorgeous. It's just too bad I never have to see the *** end of one while I'm driving.

The G8 is a great looking car, but the 4 door ruins it for me (personally). It all depends what you want in a car, but I have yet to see a G8 that looks "mean" or "agressive". A G8 would make a great DD that is decently quick, but it just wouldn't feel right (to me) to make a 800+RWHP Twin Turbo G8. A GTO on the other hand would suit that quite nicely.

I speak from experience here a 4 door makes a great DD but not so a Hot Rod.
At the building where I work one of my friend owns a bright red G8 and another owns an Impulse Blue GTO.
IMO the G8 would be the better DD.
Just my $.02!

Honestly, if it didn't look so much like a modded Grand Prix, and had more of the original lines of the original GTO (like the mustang, challenger, and now the new Camaro), I think it would look better. The charger is another fail; it looks absolutely nothing like the original.

The black one posted in this thread looks sharp but there just too heavy and the independent rear for the weight is just not for me and I myself am not into the body style but I am sure they are people out here in the world that love theres and they do ride good but just not my personal thing but to each there own!

I like both the G8 and the GTO. My car is down in the 3500-3600lb range with a brace skid plate, and towing brace removed. Along with the weight reduction in performance mods. Its not the most aggressive looking car, but I like it, and my friends/co worker's who have seen it, think it looks great.

probably because instead of being retro pieces of ****, they produced something good.
The modern gto is the direct evolution of what a gto would have been had it stayed in production and the 05-06 outperforms every gto ever so....yes it has all of the heritage of the original and then some.
