Default wheel hop!!!

well took my gto to the track yesterday and was very dissapointed in how much it wheel hops. i was cutting 2.6 60fts. the best i could do was a 13.8. i know it can do a way better time. whats the cheapest way i can fix this problem..

Got a drag radial or a slick.

Nothing you do to the rear or suspension is ever going to get rid of it completely.
The only thing that does is TRACTION.

Guys spend a ton of money on new axles, diff mounts, bushings, etc...it might help but its still going to happen.
Hook that bitch up and it wont have a reason to wheel hop

I bought a single 1 3/8'' axle from hendrix enginerring. the different size axles help with harmonics. harrop diff cover and suspension mods will help too.
I have zero wheel hop but it didnt come cheap.

Get up there do a nice burnout and get em HOT and only launch the car around 1100-1200 rpms.. should be down in the 2.0s easily.. im assuming u are dumping the **** out of the clutch to be getting 2.6s? These cars are too fat and way too skinny of a tire in the rear from stock to be able to take it up and expect to hook like your TA does. Hope this helps some.

I would also like to know what tires your running and what rpm you have been launching at. Assuming its a stock 6speed since thats what your sig says im assuming your just dumping it a little too hard for the stock 245s.

car is bone stock, only thing done is a lous short stick and a k&n cone filter on the stock intake tube. it has some 245-45-18 good year eagle f1s, out back. first pass i launched at 3500 and dumped clutch, all it did was wheel hopp really bad, second pass i launched at bout 2000 and still wheel hopped, on the 13.8 i just rolled out soft like i was taking off from a red light, lol then got in it once i was rolling.

This and drag radials. Also try slipping the clutch a little on launch, it's been my experience that these cars don't like a clutch dump unless your running slicks. That seems to work for me.

Next time out try gettin the tires pretty hot (i always go around the water) and then just launch at about 1100 or 1200 and give it hell. If you can launch it around that rpm it should hook pretty good. If it still wheel hops then try same thing at 1000. It should get u into the 2.0s at least which is respectable for stock cars with street tires. Then u should see 13.5-13.4 range. Goodluck man.

I usually do a burnout in 2nd gear get those mickey's nice and sticky. Then for launching I rev up to 5k and do a knee jerk. For wheel hop get tires and drag bags. they will help you out the most. I have full suspension and i'm switching to koni's and drag bags. Oh yea almost forgot drop the mickey's to 18 to 15 psi see what works for you.

Drag bags will make the biggest bang for the buck difference when it comes to wheel hop. They are inexpensive and relatively easy to install. Here is quick pictures of the ones we sell and have in stock.
