Default possible race, coworkers new 5.0 vs my GTO

One of the nurses I work with, her husband just bought a 2012 Mustang GT 5.0 6 speed and all she does is BRAG about how fast this thing is and blah blah blah. So we got to talking and for ***** & giggles I said I'd race him. So my question is, if we were to race, who would be victorious? The new 5.0 completely stock down to the filter or my new '06 GTO with CAI/bullet CB/conservative tune? *minor tune from the past owner*

Even with my mods? The only difference is 200lbs or so and 12hp stock for stock, seems like i'd be closer.

I should have at least 370 to the wheels, and if his stock 360-370, only thing that should hurt me is the weight.

i saw one right off the show room floor running high 12's on street tires. From a roll you might have a chance dont do a dig unless you have sticky tires

If he was driving an auto I would say you had a chance from 25-35, but since he is a 6spd you better just talk about how shitty his interior is. They dont have the low end that your car does but his top end is crazy. Also, from 80 up they pull like a freight train. I have a friend with a small p1 procharged one and it makes 580rwhp on a race tune.

Get some LT's and a better tune and you won't have an issue....so long as you have a driver mod.

Oh yea, get it on video too!

Run it, and video it.

Should be a good race.

A factory 5.0 will trap around 109-111mph. A stock GTO will trap around 106-107mph. The GT is no slouch, and they are indeed quite fast.

I don't see you winning this one. But at the end of the day it's still a rustang!

I don't see a good outcome for you. No offense those cars are damn quick.

Unless you let juice drive, then you'd win.

Without longtubes you would probably get beat but not by a lot. I had a bone stock 6spd run a 12.4 against me @ 112 at the track. They are very strong. I agree that you should run him anyway and find out for sure though.

Awe don't hate, the new 5.0s are impressive motors, especially compared to the old crap 4th gen 2 valve mod motor crap that puts out a whole 200 to the wheel maybe. 4.6=fail, 2012 5.0=win.
