Default '04 Pontiac GTO

i love the fact that they have made the ls1 badder than ever but i also hate the fact that the car weighs 3,750 compared to the '02 ss that weighed 3,330

i got this info. from a motor trend mag as far as the '02 ss's weight is concerned and for the gto their info is just everywhere

How is the LS1 badder than ever? It's the same engine as an 01-04 LS1 in a C5 or Fbody. Must be those fancy GTO valve covers!

Well, close but not exactly the same...some slight cam/tuning changes.

I think that weight is a little optimistic for the SS. F-bodies with weight reduction will get in that range. I would guess around 3500 for an SS.

He's referring to the manufacturer's power rating.

Well, the general consensus is that much of the car is designed stronger to withhold the rigors of driving in Australia - which can apparently equate to the baja 500 races at times. They apparently have about an abundance of not well maintained or dirt roads, and the Holden's are supposedly really good at staying together and not becoming rattle traps.
Also, full leather interior w/ 4 bucket seats, 10 speakers, air conditioning, heat shields all over the place, a sturdy brush guard to protect your oil pan, a heavy looking carriage holding the rear diff in place instead of it mounting directly to the chassis (unibody).
I guess overall it seems to be a combination of creature comforts and a beefy build design.

GTOs/larger muscle cars have always been tanks. See the above post for your question.
