Thumbs up corvette run down

First of all i just recently bought a 2004 GTO and it has about 2500 miles on it thus far. So I was going down the interstate yesterday when a black 2003 vette pulled up beside me and stopped right there. I knew what he was doing so i let the GTO loose just to see how it could do against the all mighty vette. Well we ran upon traffic and had to back out and I fell in behide the vette waiting for him to let it loose again. When the car in front of him pulled over in the right lane, we let em loose again. The vette pulled on me about 2 links at the beginning but after we hit about 132 i started pulling up on him. I had the nose of the goat right up under his ***. He pulled over in the right lane and at 144 i pulled right up beside him. I had to let out of it before i could get around him because i was running back up on traffic again. But it was just enough to let him know that i could have went around him if i had enough room. I have drove alot of fast cars in my day but i have never drove any as fast as this little goat. LOVE IT!!!.........Wheat_man

What mods do you have??? Not to doubt your story, but it is hard to run down the C5 at high speeds. Plus the 04 Goat is heavier than the C5.

IF he is stock the only way it could of happened is if he was behind and hit it before the vette did, so it makes it alot easier to hawk

and to the above comment, yea i agree....some people dont think bout others

Sounds possible to me if your manual and the Vette was auto. Are you sure it was an 03 Vette? I beat quite a few Vette's with the Formula before I even had more than lid and exhaust so I believe it.

Good ummmmm kill I guess.....why is it so hard to believe when someone says they kept up with or beat a Vette? Those cars are not unstoppable, I mean dayum saying someone beat a Vette around u guys is almost as bad as someone saying they beat a Cobra with us Ford guys! Seriously I have played with a few newer generation Vettes and the only ones that have really impressed me are the old school ZR1 and the new ZO6

As i described, he was in it before i realized it and pulled on me about 2 links. We did not level off until we were around 132 and then i started pulling back up on him. His whole point was to show me how he could kick the goats *** so i do not believe at that point he would just run 140mph and just let me go by do you..........(NOT!!!!)
My cousin owns a 03 vette C5 so i do know the model.

Stock vs stock and same tranny the vette should have pwnt you.

It's always fun out-running vette's, in my experience most aren't the open-minded ls1tech type people, they're usually snobby and think they own the road, especially to a "lesser" car like a GTO or F-car. There was a middle-aged dude around my work with a C5 sporting Z06 vents and a Borla that thought his was the ****. I had to whoop his *** in my camaro three times in the space of about a month before he started pretending like he didn't see me anymore.

So you're telling me that you pulled on a car with better aerodynamics and almost 600 fewer pounds than yours while putting down the same amount of power?

that's like saying 1 + 1 = 3

I'm not telling you nothing. And i know the weights and the power of both the cars but that is the reason of the story being put in here. I mean if it was your everyday same car shoot out what would be so great about any of the stories in here. Lets not forget that i don't really care if you believe it or not. Just telling what happened!!!

Maybe he was a really old guy born in 1903 driving a 98 C5?
I still say you raced an A4 Vette, or a guy who shifted his M6 to 5th way too early. Anyways, good kill!

I had a 2000 C5 A4 and have a 2004 M6. He was either not trying very hard or playing with you. I love both of these cars. And, actually like the 2004 GTO more as it is a better overall daily driver for me. But, gotta tell you having owned and driven them both...............3250 lbs, much better aero and about the same hp........no contest.........the Vette wins. The Vette is at home in the over 100s range and even more stable. That body, developed in the wind tunnel, flat out hunkers down and is glued to the road at speed.
