I ran 275/40 Nitto DRs at the strip...no rolling...no rubs.

the only 275s that will fit the stockers w/out rubing or rolling the fenders are the nitto DRs... though i have heard that the new style ET streets will fit too. But BFG DRs WILL NOT fit the stock rim and YOU WILL have to roll/grind the fenders to make em fit. been there done that.....

275's require a 9" wheel per the tire manufacturer . . .

OEM GTO wheels are 8"

Nittos do fit, because they run narrow, my Khumos also fit, although they were wider and barely cleared. Although the tire fits on the rim and in the wheel well, it is not sitting on the stock rim properly in terms of facilitating proper tire wear, etc. If you want wider tires (don't we all) get bigger rims when you can afford them, its worth it and roll your fenders, that's a no-brainer.

Amazing isn't it? You'd think that after 1000 posts like this that people would just start checking the published tire specs.

They may "fit", but that doesn't make it right. Lots of things "fit" where they don't belong.

The Advan AO32R's are the only Advan that I could find manufactured in 275/40/17 size so I'm assuming these are the ones referenced above. Yoko's published specs for approved rim width are 9.0-11.0" for this tire size. (ref: http://www.yokohamatire.com/pdf/AO32Rbltn.pdf )

Nitto 555R are also spec'ed for a 9.0-11.0 rim width (ref: http://www.nittotire.com/tires_555r.asp click "sizes and specs")

And for reference BFG G-force drag radials: http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/asset...rag_radial.pdf

I think the point here is just that folks are aware that although the tire may "fit" it doesn't mean its an approved combination, at which point you are using it at your own risk - ie Caveat lector

A square peg fits in a round hole too, if you hit it hard enough. Still don't make right . . .

I've heard of people cutting 1.80's on 275 BFG's on stock 8" wheels.

I cut 1.83 on Nitto 245 DRs. I now have 275 Nitto DRs as my daily driven street tire. I have seen people mount BFGs on stock rims, but am pretty sure they had to roll the fenders.
