Don't know where they get their info from lol. Though yes 2006 is the last year. Supposly GM is going to bring it back in 2008 with a new design, and start building them in the US. Really I wish it would just die, it would make our cars worth a lot more later on

More like suspended, temporarily. '06 models usually officially end in the summer. Next year's model comes out in the fall, prior to the selling model year. So expect an '07 by next winter, or at least an annoucement of a rear drive with V6 and V8 engine options. A V6 is need to justify cost of making it over seas and bringing it over. I don't think it will be made here, but a V6 is needed for the rental companies to better compete with the Mustang demographics of the $19K where GM does not. compete.

GOOD RIDDENS...THAT OLD UGLY THING WAS EATING ALL MY CANS ANYWAY..
seriously though. id be happy if were a goat owner..especially the LS2 owners.
If the end of the goat really is here there will be a small following of the LS2 goat and in time the Goats resale prices will reflect this...
It wont be like a Supra or anything..But you'll defiently get more than if there were 07..08..09 and so forth models available.

WTH? You got to be joking. The GTO never had a V6 model before and it's one of the very few V8 cars that has kept to it's V8 roots.
That's like taking a Camaro or Firebird and offering a V4 model.

If they thought sales were bad with the current goat, wait till they see what happens with a six banger GTO. DeLorean will be spinning in his grave.

I have my doubts that GM will be releasing a Pony car in the next two years. They are just not in good enough shape financially to do so, also they are not geared up to do so either. Ask yourself this question "which plant stateside will they build it in or will it be an overseas plant operation?" There is no current platform developed far enough in advance to do it on either. The only RWD platform that can be converted to the two door and hold a V-8 is the Zeta Platform (Holden / GM Australia) If they plan to build a Pony car on that platform here then a plant needs to be re-factored to do it stateside, else they are going to have to wait for the Aussies to complete a two door design for the Zeta, complete a plant configuration of the platform, source out parts suppliers, and then actually begin making the cars. If this is the case then Holden has to consider US needs for the car or GM in the States will have to retrofit the car the same way they did the GTO AKA relocate the fuel tank and meet other US Govt agencies regulations and requirements whether it be EPA, DOT etc. These are just logistics considerations.
Now from a business standpoint and lets not forget that GM is a business, as it is today GM is fighting for its life, don’t let anyone fool you! Look at the dealerships near you and the key car markets segments in the economy, you can see it plain as day. Too many SUVs and Trucks on the lots, yet in this market, others are making a headway like the Japanese. In the compact sedan market (Corolla/Civic, Altima) rule, yet GM has no viable contender that has the sales volume to compete. In the mid size family sedan market (Camry, Accord/ Maxima/Mazda 5/ 3 Series BMW, C Series MB) GM has no viable contender. In the Large Family Sedans (300C/E Series Benz/ 5 Series BMW/G35/ Maybe Toyota Avalon) and who knows what I am not so sure, maybe the Buick Lucerne if it sells.
Investors want to see GM make and sell” bread and butter” cars like the Corollas and Camrys first before build Pony cars. From a Pony car standpoint, the quickest time-to-market route option they have for a modern platform is the Holden Zeta Platform. Whatever option they choose to take, they are two years away from a production 2 door, RWD, V8 car.
