Default LT Header Install ???'s (Kooks for 05 LS-2)

I've got a set of Kooks LT's (with Catted connecting pipes)
still waiting on the O2 extentions.

already have the Borla "Cat Back" kit on.

I'm looking for a writeup on the install of LT's on the LS2
anyone have any info for me?

Thanks,

Russ

I just ordered my kooks headers i did a search on LS1GTO.COM for header install and found the dynatech header instructions for a 04.I wish i could remember the thread for you but i can't.The install on a 04 is basically the same as a 05.Do a search on LS1GTO.COM and you will find what you are looking for.Good luck!!

I just had that combo done on my A4 . Sounds great. The Torque really woke the car up.

The dynatech install PDF for the 04's will get you 90+% there. Haven't seen a write up on an 05 or 06 that comes close to that.

Take the plus out, remove the old exhaust, lower the steering rack(remove the lines first), and remove the little support brackes at the lower corner of the firewall, and inner frame rail. Slide the driver side header in from the bottom, and the passenger from the top. Loosly install the headers to the heads, and reinstall the rack , lines, and the braces. Then tighten the headers down, install connection pipes, and the plugs. Fire up, and check for leaks.

Check it out.

I just did my friends 05 with Kook's. Good write up. Use the factory metal gaskets over, the Kook's look like felt, wierd.

I used the Kooks gaskets. I did not like them too much. But they have not leaked one bit.

Video of Kooks/ Borla combo w/ Cats
I used the stock gaskets. My buddy who installs many sets says they are hit or miss. He just uses stock gaskets after many problems.

for a 2005 GTO
any change you can upload the pics again somewhere?

and what lines are you talking about?(from sweden, but leaving it to an arab tomorrow to put on the headers and looking for a install pdf like there is for the corvette)

and all that mechanical language does not translate any good to swedish in my brain

I hope that if I give the arab some good instructions he will complete in install and not abort, he normally only work on renaults, peugots, old volvos and saabs

Hardest thing was the rack-pinon for me. Passenger side is so easy. My transmissions lines rubbed against headers, but I positioned them another way.

All tools and procedures are listed in the above posted ls1gto directions. they are step by step and very comprehensive.

to put the kooks headers in on the driver side you have to take steering apart and lower rack pinion and disconnect the lines. what I had to do at least.

lol

here I get confused, the car language.
I have traveled a lot and I think I got a big understanding of the english language, but the above made not much sense to me

lower rack pinion? that is the stick that goes down and make the wheel turn when you turn the steeringwheel?

disconnect the lines? power lines?
