that's not TOTALLY inaccurate. they are all IRS but the center section is based on a Dana design.

First of all,add royal purple 85w-140 to any stock rear end,as the factory fluid sucks. It will quiet it down and allow it take alittle more abuse.
A stock rear end has been into the 11's before, but 12's consistently. So a bolt-on car with a cam possible and you should be okay.

i twisted and snapped mine in two at the track. i was putting down about 400 RWHP with really bad wheel hop. it snapped within a second or two right after launch. at the time i only had drag bags and DRs. i have a one piece DiffTechnics aluminum shaft now. i am currently upgrading my rear suspension with all new SuperPro bushings, Koni shocks, 3.91s with spring kit and a Harrop cover. i also widened my stock wheels to 9". with increased power comes the challenge of putting it down. my engine power quest has been temporarily sidetracked with the suspension stuff. i had been told before on other launches that they could see my wheels moving back and forth in the wheel wells. after taking them apart i could see that the control arm bushings are junk with large voids in them causing a lot of lateral movement. the IRS isn't a drag drive train and it needs some upgrades to make it better IMHO

you hear the drain train more than the stocker and there is a very slight vibration at about 45 and 90 MPH with mine. that will probably shift lower as that was with my old gears. my rear end's apart now and i noticed that a small balance weight is off of it. i may have to get it rebalanced. as loud as my car is it's all buried in the other sounds anyways. it also has a different "feel" when you drive it. the engine feels more connected to the wheels. when you step on it it goes. you're not getting that cushion lag that made you feel like you were being shot out of a slingshot that you had with the rubber couplers.
