Default Anyone using a Wavetrac?

So forgive my hodgepodge of performance parts, my 2002 Camaro was a 10 second auto car, and has been modified into a T56 “fun” car. It has a Moser 9” with 4:10s and a wavetrac, Strano springs, sway bars, Koni yellows, and I’m using stock 18x9.5 Vette wheels with 275 RE-71Rs on them. So a lot of the drag race stuff is gone, but that’s why the 9”. So I took it autocrossing for the first time over the weekend. It did surprisingly well, especially compared to my C5.

What I’m a little concerned with is how applying power out of a turn it would only spin the inside tire. I expected it to break loose. I doubt there is anything wrong, it still spins both tires in a straight line. Just not how I expected it to act, even made the car more forgiving. I’m just wondering if anyone else has had experiences like this?

I ran a T2R for years and never lit up an inside tire, but never really stepped it out sideways either. Definitely a noticeable improvement in road course driving experience for me. I loved that carrier, it was the best and my favorite to date but alas, I blew it to bits from a dig

What fluid are you running in it? Torque biasing differentials don't like additives of friction modifiers because they function on friction. I'm not familiar with Wavetrac's but I've always run Redline 75w90ns in my Torsen T2R and had great success.

I've been running mine since May of this year. First time really getting on it was at LSfest West (just finished the break in miles and fluid change the night before). The thing is a beast for sure. I really forget that it's back there and seeing the title of your post mad me think to myself of how well it has performed without me even noticing it. Never noticed the inside tire or anything but smooth transitions. My car is mainly auto-x, and was just at a road race event on Friday and it performed flawlessly. Using the Lucas oil with it.

I’m using the Motul fluid that Moser sells for it without any additives.

Yeah, sorry fellas. It is totally a S-Trac. I was going to run a wavetrack and the guys at MWC told me the S-Trac will work just as good and they have had very few complaints about them. Complete brain fart responding to this thread. But S-Track should be on your scope as well if looking at the wavetrack.

It's the thru-bolt aluminum one so should be just fine from what I was told.

Now that I think about it a bit, the HD Pro aluminum case is another reason I went S-Track. The wavetrack will not fit in the aluminum case.

My Wavetrac is in a Moser aluminum case. Maybe not whatever Strange HD Pro case is, but it fits in Moser’s through bolt aluminum. Idk?

I have 5 years on my aluminum center section. Street an drag use. No problems no leaks. Also with a S trac, had 4.30 an swapped to a 3.90.

Aluminum case is totally fine for the street. Used in OEM all the time. Sierra front diff for instance, transfer case, transmission anyone? You get the picture.

Speaking of the S-Trac I havent been on top of things as much as I used to so does anyone know of ANY S-Trac failures? I do know there were some Wave-Trac failures because initially those carriers came with a lifetime warranty and that policy soon changed. Thats not to say Im suggesting the WavTrac is in any way bad it is not at all it is pretty dang awesome but our kind tend to break all things sooner or later.

Ha yes indeed how things have changed around here in that regard. LS1tech was once among the most spendy membership of any engine performance site and now the kings of the JY dogs. The irony is the JY dogs are going WAY faster than almost all the big dollar og members ever did. Interesting times

Probably a Strange only kind of thing. I remember something saying that you would have to take out material to make it fit and that it would make the area weak or something to that effect.
