For the love of.....please help. Cam sensor after LS6-LS2 swap.
Ok. So since I have put my car back together with the conversion stroker motor my cam sensor just hadn't worked. Constantly throwing a code. Well now it has come to a head as I need an inspection and the engine light had to be off. Not to mention the times where it takes two times for the car to start
Now, I know I have the correct cam sprocket. I even removed all my second guessing doubt when I took the sensor out and double checked with a scope. So that's not the problem.
The. I threw a new cam sensor at it part number 12591720
Now I did all the searching possible to help with this and did the "wire swap" deal which you need to do apparently with the extension harness. So currently it is wired the way I drew it out in the picture.
Lastly I did a continuity test on all wires and everything checks out fine. At this point I'm completely lost as to why I'm failing. Any help and expert knowledge is much appreciated!

When I did my LS1 to LS3 conversion, I had LMR do it. I know they used the LS2 swap kit from SDPC but beyond that...but let me attempt to help find some things you haven't found yet. From reading all of these, you may want to try swapping the outside wires on the extension harness...

I can double check your wiring colors and check my LS6 to LS3 conversion tomorrow but I seem to recall buying the katech extension harness and figuring out that the part of the harness that connects to the factory plug at the firewall was wired backwards and I had to rewire it.
from what you're saying, there's really only 2 things that could be wrong at this point: either your factory harness at the firewall is pinched/broken or the harness is at fault, right?

Did you keep the like 4"-6" pigtail at the bottom of the LS2 front cover? Mounts with like a 6-8mm bolt/screw IIRC. Racetronix specifically has one harness for WITH that piece and one WITHOUT. I suspect this is the root of your issue. I took that short pigtail off and ordered the harness WITHOUT in the Jeep. I first had a LM7 in there and then 24x LS2 so similar swap I think. Am I assuming correctly that you used a 2005 LS2 with 24x crank and 1x cam gear? Probably doesn't matter but curious.
Either way, pretty sure you have to have the right harness for your front pigtail situation. If you have the pigtail in the loop, perhaps take it out of the loop and try it straight in to the sensor.
Without factory pigtail:

Since the. I have changed the sensor itself. But that's it. And still nada.

Looks exactly like I have it.

So you have the pigtail in place? The Jeep will be sans-drivetrain while I finish the V. If you want to pay for the $4 USPS, I'd send you the "without" Racetronix harness that is known good if you want to try it. Heck if you have 1x cam sensor, I could throw the sensor in there too, that way you would have a complete, known-good working setup from a Gen-III vehicle. Won't need it back for at least a couple of months...send it back or keep it and buy another and have it shipped to me.
Started every time and my only code was bad CEL.

An easier way--you verified you have the right cam gear? Tell me about that? Was it one half-moon on the gear, or 4 high spots?
You can see here and pick from the menu..

Really, tell us what cam gear you have and if you are still running the Gen-III (stock) PCM and we can baseline that you have the right stuff.

If he built the engine he probably used a 24x. I had a problem similar to yours on my camaro, ended up being my crankshaft position sensor for some reason with my ls2 swap. Don't know why, I will see if I can find any info I had about it

Man I'd have to wait on the code. I realized one I posted this thread that I didn't have that pertinent information. And currently my car is apart due to the alternator shitting the bed. And I have no idea where my little code reader deal is.
But yes I built the motor so it has a 24t crank sprocket. And I have confirmed more then once that I have the correct 1x cam sprocket as well.

Yep, wouldn't have run without the correct reluctor or a converter. Since it's never run without throwing a cam sensor code, it could be either a simple/typical problem or a small detail wrong in the conversion. Would he helpful to have the code but can only reasonably expect that once Nik gets it running. I still kinda lean towards something in Step 7 here: http://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread...-an-LS1-car?s= or a simple harness/wiring problem (pinched wire, etc).
Swapped LS2, different platform, same symptom. http://www.norotors.com/index.php?topic=4010.0

Runs fine.
Anyway the code is PO341 can shaft position sensor A circuit range performance or bank 1 single sensor.
That help? Should I just change the sensor again? Anyone know exactly what sensor I should have?

You need a cam sensor from a 2005 Corvette(24x LS2). That's the one that worked great in the Jeep. I've also seen evidence of the harness needing resistor across two of the wires. Search "LS2 cam sensor resistor" and you should see what I mean.
Are you running anything aftermarket between the cam sprocket, front cover, etc?
Still welcome to borrow my known-good conversion harness.

What do you mean cam bolts? The sprocket bolts? I doubt that. And I don't know why that would trigger this code? Either way those bolts were torqued and loctited. So I truly doubt any bolt is coming loose.
