So I am sitting here on a Friday night after cruising for a few hours and wondering who gets as much love and enjoyment out of their ride as I do. Backdrop I've owned my car for 10 years now, yes a decade, and other than my wife and son (and dog) nothing makes me look forward to the evening more. I have a 2000 SS that I have taken from almost bone stock to and full suspension (drag set up) lq4 408 s480 turbo car maintaining three pedals car that I have put blood sweat and tears into. So post a picture of your pride and joy up and let the GM joy flow guys and gals!!
I know exactly how you feel. At almost every moment since July of 1999 I've had at least one LS1 F-body in my possession. 17 years I've spent with these cars, some have been show vehicles/weekend cruisers, one was a daily driver, one was for street/strip; varying degrees of modification and two of them bought brand new. So much history and knowledge gained over those years, it's just become part of who I am as a person.
I'm up to 12 years with the current one; I feel like I would be lost if I didn't have at least one of them for the rest of my life. Haha. This one has remained as a nearly stock show car that I spend more time looking at than driving. This was easy to do when I had two of them simultaneously - one to drive and one to look at. But I have been without a "driver" for 2.5 years now. I'd love to get back to dual 4th gens again.
I love my '71 as well, but I'm not old enough to have bought anything from that era brand new, so I'm not quite as connected to those. I've had this Nova for nearly a decade now (and I've had other cars similar to it well before my first 4th gen), and in some ways I like it better, but the 4th gens will always be my greatest automotive love with the most comprehensive personal history.
Everytime I drive it I fall in love again And I know what you mean about cruising. Just the love of driving the car and not wanting to park it and end the ride yet. So you turn down another road, then another.... The sound, the feel, the acceleration, the exilleration. Life is good in this moment.
I've owned mine for 11 years and have done just like you minus the turbo. My car started out as a bone stock A4 car and now has a LS3 headed Futral cammed LQ9 in it. I also did a M6 swap in it with a S60 out back. I love every moment of driving it!
I agree with all said. I find myself prolonging my drives because I don't want to park it when I take it out which is sunny weekend days and maybe a weekday evening after work. It's definitely my pride and joy.
Here are a few pictures. The first one is when I first got it before I did a all out paint correction and got rid of the god awful 16in. alloy rims. The rest are random picture because I liked the lighting and angle the the years. The car definitely keeps me busy and out of trouble 6 months out of the year.
I've owned mine since 98 or 99 ?
Been through a few motors, rears, converters, ETC, ETC, and even a wreck....but I don't get to enjoy her as much as I'd like between working 6-7 day weeks, family stuff and all
My Daughter at 5? years old with "vroom vroom" LOL
Accident, it was on a trailer when this happened
My little girl is growing up (16)
New heart beat
Nothing like jumping in the car for some crusing or WOT runs. I'm 30 now in the past 11 yrs I've had a 93Z,96Z,98Z,00Z,01Firehawk,02Z, right now I have the 02Z and the 98Z. I love these cars. Like mentioned they just become a part of who you are.
It's been with me 4 years now, and I love this car like no other, but my only problem is wanna go out and pick races everytime I go out lol. Otherwise it's not nearly as fun lol
Great, now I'm all nostalgic. I didn't get my 99 SLP SS brand new, but it was my post war purchase when I got back from Iraq with a bank account full of money. Never been so angry as when a deer came out of nowhere in the middle of the night and took out the front end. It's still sitting in the garage waiting to be parted out to fund my new 79 camaro project, but I still love that car. Pic's in my profile. Now I'm conflicted about parting it out or restoring it. Wife would kill me with 2 camaro's in the garage however... maybe..
No plans to ever get rid of my baby either. I've owned her since 02 and been through quite a journey with this car. Some times it gets the best of me and I park away for a while and come back to it after the bug bites me again. 2000 Z with 34,xxx on the clock.
Cool dog OP. My dog will hang out with me when I'm wrenching in the shop, the kids are sill too little.
