Default ? Help identifying what piece I drained out of my LS6 ? (Pics)

I found these four pieces attached to my magnetic drain plug when changing the oil. Pics shown beside a dime to get an idea of the size. The way that the edges appear to not be "smooth" makes me think that they are broke in half instead of being a two piece design like a spring retainer? Any idea where these went, so I will know what part of the engine to tear down? Keep in mind I cannot hear any noise coming from the motor, no smoking, good oil pressure. Thanks!

I wonder what causes this? Good thing it's not too hard to change out.

chain tries to walk over the sprocket under high stress, luckily in these LS engines the rollers break instead of the chain. Good idea to add a chain guide if you can, it will stop the chain from wrapping up.

I need to see what chain was installed on this car when the previous owner did a H/C/I swap. What chain would you guys recommend? Don't want this happening again.
