So I got a bud who found a brand new loudmouth muffler in his storage today. Said he would sell it to me for 50 bux. I've heard it's a pain to install to a stock system. Thoughts? From what I can see it seems like the exhaust shop will charge me a fortune to install it as it isn't a regular 1 in 2 out muffler...
Can you elaborate on what you are trying to do? My buddy installed an LM1 but had to remove the stock muffler and the muffler shop made a Y pipe. Something like this:
Is that what you are going for? If I remember the shop charged around $150-$200 to make that Y
In my humble opinion there are better exhaust set ups. I have a borla catback but have been wanting to try that new Texas speed car back with the cutout towards the middle:
Obviously the best set up is True duals.

That would be awesome. Problem is, I'm on a tight budget I'm looking for the cheapest way good sound but nothing that will make me deaf on 30 mile hwy commutes.
You can get a direct fit Hooker Aerochamber or Magnaflow replacement for the stock muffler. Each one is quiet and will flow considerably better than the stocker. And they're not expensive.
I can sell you a Hooker Aerochamber muffler that has some surface rust and some loose rust inside but works perfectly, I didn't know about the internal sediment until I removed the muffler.
I found an LM1 catback locally new, the price was too good to pass up. It's a stainless 3" which appealed to me. Unfortunately, it is so loud and obnoxious I don't enjoy driving it as much. I agree with Detoxx. I will be swapping in a Magnaflow or Dynomax bullet in place.
