Will a 2" primary header fit an oem k-member? I called Texas speed and they said don't even try it unless you have an aftermarket k member.
TSP didn't even give it a "maybe"! Looks like you might have your answer, though it can never hurt to get more opinions. Even so, TSP has been around long enough to know what they are talking about.
Did you mention to TSP that it is a Kooks set? If you did, then you got a definitive answer. Enough of those setups are around for TSP to know what works or not. I don't know if TSP sells Kooks (they might), but if so, then it's a lock.
Also what I've heard. Having a tubular k-member is wanted. Unless I'm mistaken I think I've heard of people fitting them. You have to do some cutting of the k-member.
I did TSP 2" with stock K. Theres some trimming to be done. Passanger side is the one withe hole cut in it, doesnt need to be that big but wanted clearance. Drivers side is circled an the pinched seem just needed ground back flush. Honestly it might have been possible to dent the primary slightly for the needed clearance.
Is the horsepower gains over 1 7/8 headers worth the trouble ?
To me yes I got my sights set high. Add to the fact it was a new build and didnt have headers for this car already and it was an easy choice. With motor out it was at most a 1hr job with my bare mock up block and heads. Now im putting in a UMI k though.
Im interested to see how they fit with that UMI k member you mentioned.....
If you read through the other threads the aftermarket k's arent a garaunteed fit for these headers either. Pretty sure the were 2 different k's where some grinding or denting of the primary was needed. These are really nice headers for the money that require very minimal work to make them fit, I have another set waiting to go on my daughters car when its time. Put these headers with Speed Engineerings true dualls (to get rid of gay *** dumps) and you have an exhaust to support big power without most of the drone.
On a side note. I'm pretty sure I read a post from TSP somewhere that not everybody that signed up on pre sale bought them and they're not selling as well as expected. So if you think you may want these someday you better get now because once this batch is done I dont think you'll see any more. Then that leaves you with the really nice and pricey Kooks.
I have kooks 2" and did not have any fitment issuse but i did replace the motor mounts at the same time so it sits up as high as it is ever going to. I cant promise i wont have issues down the line

Like posted above, it's not that it can't be done, it's just that it's not a direct fit. You will have hack up the k-member and be willing to MAKE it fit. I can't speak for kooks either way. They may have clearanced theirs around a stock K-member. I'm just not sure.

This is interesting. If the Kooks 2'' fit with stock k-member I will want them. One thing is I have Spohn solid motor mounts. This lifts the motor a tad. So the thing I may worry about is if they contact the body under the car. I would only get the 3" collectors.
