Default RHS 427 Build

Still working on making the little 5.3 faster, but I came across a deal I couldn't pass up on an RHS Block and RHS LS7 Heads. Still, need a lot of parts, and decide what the final combination will be.

Well that will be a nice boost in performance compared to the little 5.3. I almost went the same route you did when I found a RHS Tall Deck set up for a 502. It was a new block with Callies Billet crank and rods. Unfortunately they guy would not work with me on the price so I passed it up.

This would be nice for a boosted build.

The main question is what are You wanting? N/a or F/I? Carb style intake or MSD/FAST style intake? High revv'ing or Normal operating range for RPM of around 7500 max. How much Hp are you looking to make. What combination, is the last question Needed what you want to run for ET's and how N/a or F/I is the? Or is this just a street engine as We don't know what combination may look good. A general Idea of the intended Use & what type of HP #'s would help..

The hell with it I'm Bored.

Max bore with that block is around 4.165 add a Typical 4 inch crank= 436ci
4.125 crank= 449ci
4.250 crank= 463ci
Now as you add crank size piston speed does speed up in which going bigger doesn't look as good compared to the smaller stroke aka harder on piston skirts and rings. On the intake you have your choice of Top-end Hp vs All around HP or aka: CID intake Vs MSD/FAST intake. Have the heads ported by Chris he has a program I haven't seen from others. Add a solid roller if you've got the $ to spare and let it EAT N/a. You maybe able to B part of the 8 second club. Stay with the E85. 800 2 thew crank is Easy as taking candy from a baby?

N/a from 7yrs ago things have only gotten Better! Have $ make HP!

Going to keep it nitrous for now. I may do a turbo build down the road. I am sure this motor will be faster than my 5.3 is on the kit!

Plan on keeping the car carb and will probably run a CID be5 LS7 intake with a 4500 carb not sure if I want to stay e85 or change fuel. This one will be a high revving solid roller motor. Also thinking about making this one a dry sump with a vacuum pump. So far I have the block, rods, heads, and lifters. I still would like to get the car into the 8's with the 5.3 so I am not in a hurry with this project.

Could you post some pics of the heads? I'm curious what the ports and chambers look like in the pro port heads.

OP, I love your car. I enjoy watching the videos of it. That new engine/head combo is going to be bad ***. Who are you going to have spec out the cam? Can't wait to see this thing progress.

Don't mean to rude but just got off of the phone talking with Chris @ Straub Technologies about a few things. And I asked about the new Black Mamba series lifters said they were for Nascar and they banned them. Can sit @ idle all day with No problems there a bushed style lifter also. Also they wouldn't have been out at least another 4 yrs if Nascar hadn't banned them. Damn! I just got normal Ultra Pro Morels bushed lifters. Damn Damn Damn! quote from Good Times when James died. LOL!

Thanks, I really have not thought that much about it. I used LJMS on the 5.3 and I am very happy with the results.

Thanks! That's answers some questions I've had about those heads for years.

Is the missing material between the valves of any concern? I've noticed that nearly ever single set of used AFR heads are missing the aluminum between the valves too.

Nope. Pretty common with big valve heads where the larger OD seat inserts interlock. My TFS 220's were the same way.

it is just because they are raw castings for big valves.

Badass. I just purchased a 427 LSX block from TSP for my z06. RHS makes an awesome block, it definitely was one of my top choices
