Default Holley Billet 105mm Throttle Body

Looking at throttle bodies.... I stumbled across the Nick williams 102 mm for 390 dollars and the Holley 105 mm for 530 dollars.

My main quesition is why is it so much higher than the nick williams throttle body ?

Is it really that much better?

Here is some features of the Holley throttle body...

Holley’s BILLET LS Throttle Bodies are the BIGGEST BORE - MOST FEATURE LOADED available. Holley went back to the drawing board and built the ultimate air valve for your LS engine! This all new design boasts a 105 millimeter bore and a low RPM drive friendly taper. Innovative features like Idle Bleed Adjustment, TPS CLOCKER, and closable PCV Passage Valve, make them the ultimate throttle bodies for ease of installation and tuning. Regardless of whether you have a turbo, supercharger, or a big cam engine sucking gulps of air, Holley’s throttle bodies are maximized for your application. The barrier protection of the BLACK ANODIZED finish also offers up a modern tech look!

Features:

  • TPS CLOCKER allows the TPS to be rotated back into the ECU's required idle voltage range. Modified engines no longer suffer from problems related to TPS voltage!
  • IDLE BLEED allows adjustment of your idle without affecting throttle position or TPS voltages at idle!
  • PCV PASSAGE VALVE closes to accommodate forced induction applications! No more plugging to block off PCV!
  • OVERSIZED BORE compared to other LS throttle bodies
  • TAPERED TRANSITION eliminates low RPM drivability issues
  • PREMIUM BILLET BODY supports the high tolerance design and look your performance engine deserves!
  • BLACK ANODIZED FINISH for superior corrosion resistance and serious good looks
  • CRUISE CONTROL provision built in for cruise control cable
  • CABLE DRIVEN APPLICATION
  • Fits the following intake manifolds: Holley 105mm Hi-Ram, Fast™ LSXR & LSXRT, MSD® Atomic AirForce, Most other 102 through 105mm LS intakes using 4 bolt TBs

The NW 102 is a worked-over OEM throttle body and I believe, it's after a core is submitted.....the Holley is an original design and is billet.

With the Holley, you're paying extra for the R&D on the design, and the tooling to produce it.

I think NWs are billet

Nick Williams throttle bodies are known for their superior craftsmanship and are the ideal application for 102mm intake manifolds.

- CNC precision machined billet 102mm throttle body allows for increased airflow
Tusky, how big is your motor, are you FI? A ported LS2 TB maybe all you need. Im at 570+ with mine

What do you have that requires a 105mm throttle body?

Slowly putting money back for my big cube setup. Putting back money this week for my throttle body.
Lets just say it will bw north of 430 cubic inches.
All motor on pump gas and ill be hunting a low 10 sec-high 9 with my 6 speed.
Car go see alot of street miles as well. I notice the Holley 105mm throttle body features a couple extras to help surging/ bucking at low speeds.....
I jusr wondwe if anyone own one and have some real world data.....

105mm Holley here, works perfectly especially with the tapered floor although can't compare it. Clock - able TPS adjustability worth it alone IMO. Nicer quality TB. It's on a 383 now but it will go on my 416 build. The angle of the PCV fresh air tube points in an upward angle towards the underside of the hood, that sucks, so one negative.

Tusky, the bucking at low speed will have to be tuned out, its more than throttle body selection.

This is the Tb I'm going to go with if I decide to run a fabricated elbow on my MAST 4500 single plane set up. It looks to be the best out there so far.

I have a 250/258 cam and very little bucking and surging, i can lugg the car in 6th at 1000 rpm, its tuning like 64Post said.

A TB isnt fixing that unless its connecting to the PCM and is running HP tuners in the TPS, retunning the pcm while you drive
