I've talked to a couple of the best 4l60e builders in the country and they both recommended their level 6 transmissions for my build. From personal experience and other people that I know personally that have made big power a well built 4l60e can handle more than they get credit for.

As for fuel E85 has been recommended over 93 plus meth so that is what I'm going to go with.

My plan is firming up to look like a D1X, 4l60E level 6 trans, with drive shaft shop parts in the drivetrain as well as a kaaz lsd in the stock differential, and E85 flex fuel system. Engine will depend on what my budget is at the time. I will most likely boost the stock bottom end for a year or how ever long it lasts which ever comes first.

I ran a kaaz with stock gears in the stock differential in my first GTO running low 10's with 1.5x to 1.6x 60' times for over 100 passes without issues. That was with a 408 and nitrous which would probably be harder on the drivetrain than a small cubic inch motor with a procharger even with a higher peak horse power. The auto seems to help a lot with less stress on the drivetrain.

When you burn up that level 6 4l60, get with me for a nice 400. Or I'll just look for you in the transmission section.

Btw OP one thing that I absolutely LOVE about prochargers is you can install one EASILY in a weekend... If the procharger kit for gto's is as good of quality as the corvette ones you should have no problems running 10-14 psi on an 8 rib setup. I ran 10psi on my c5 vette on a 6 rib with zero problems. I literally started installing the kit on friday, finished it saturday and got it tuned, took it 8 hour round trip to the dyno and track, put down 537rwhp ran 11.x@125 and drove it home.. All in one weekend lol.

If you want to have the fun of the procharger now then get the kit and slap it on in a weekend, throw in a quick 255 pump and 60lb injectors for $400 and have a fun 500rwhp car the rest of the summer while you save for a built tranny. If you keep the boost under 12 psi with decently low timing there is absolutely no reason it shouldn't last a very long time that way.

My rpm level 6 4l60e is going on 4 years with 600+rwhp and the past year has been taking 800rwhp and still going strong... I have seen tons of RPM 4l60e's last with big power. I would never trust one from a local builder, but RPM know's how to make them last with big power... My 408 camaro with an rpm level 6 held strong and is still going strong today with the guy who bought it.

On top of that I would never put in a 400 cuz I like over drive in any of my cars.. I would still recommend a 4l80e to the op though...

There's always the exception/ few that hang out with some power. Just not the rule. There's a reason you don't see guys at the track making real power, and when you ask them about their transmission....its exceedingly rare to hear them sing the praises of the 4l60e. It's almost always a 400.

Have you looked into RPM transmissions? Search for a few hours. TONS of 4l60e's going a long time under A LOT of power.. Hell mines just he level 6 too. There are still 2 stages left I could have went with. Not to mention my car weighs almost 3800lbs. If I was to do it over from the start I would probably go with a 4l80e though. Def a beefier trans.. Why get a 60e if you can get an 80e built for the same price that will handle more power..

My next ride will likely be an 08+ RCSB Silverado with a turbo.. It will get a 4l80e from the get go...

I drive my car anywhere comfortably.. If I ever feel like driving it to the store or for a 3 hour road trip I have no worries. Everything is built and the car runs cool and still gets 20+ mpg's..

Me personally I wouldn't have an f-body if I wanted a daily driver though. At the end of the day is my toy that I enjoy cruising in and going fast.. If I wanted a daily I'd buy a second truck.
I consider both of these to be my dailies. Turbo EVERYTHING!

No. Have no need for their/product or services. Not knocking them, I just choose not to pay their overhead/kids college funds, vacations etc.

I have no doubt you would beat me at the track......... for now. I'm saving up for some real tires and rear end right now, once those are in place we can revisit this. This goes for the both of you.

All wishes and fairy tales until you run a time at the track. Your best was something like 11.2 right?

PS I'm just breaking your chops, I remember when I had too much hp and no rearend/tires to launch the car right.
