Finally in an Ls1 car!
So after awhile of searching ive finally picked up a decent car on a budget. Car is an 01 red Z28 six speed with 88k miles now as it sits, picked it up for $3700 bucks. bought from the original owner, all original and stock, and i mean all original. of course car this cheap is not perfect but is a good start and is in need of maintenance since everything is original.
Car needs a new rear, its roaring and whining like crazy, seems every f body ive owned has had this issue. engine and transmission is strong, and i mean strong. out of all the ls1 cars ive drivin this one seems very healthy. will need clutch soon most likely since its the stock one seems to have some noise on engagement/disengagement hard to tell over the rearend noise. has a power steering leak, will most likely just replace the whole pump and all new lines since its not to expensive. car throws the following engine codes:
P0161-o2 rear sensor/ will tune out with headers
p0410-air system/ will tune out with headers
p0440-evap/intermittent/ will address after rear/clutch
p0446-evap/intermittent/will address after rear/ clutch
p1637-alternator most likely/ most likely from power steering fluid being leaked on it. will address after power steering replacement.
I will clear these codes and see which ones persevere.
i will most likely replace the whole evap system since i dont wont to tune it out/ have car fumes. just depends on what i find and how far i wont to go with it. not really worried about any of them since its all emission non performance orientated.
Interior is nice/all there no rips/cracked dash. except the drivers seat.
body is good, paint not so much
There you guys have it. needs a rear and some maintenance items but overall nice car for the value.

A few more unaddressed issues than I would expect for just 88k miles, especially from an original owner. My highest mileage 4th gen was my '02 Z28 with about 110k miles when I sold it in '14, it didn't have any of those problems (though it was an automatic, which is known to be much easier on the rear at least.)
Seems to be a decent value for the price though, I'm sure it will make a fun driver.

Nice, can't touch an LS1 car around here that runs for that kind of money.
I sold my '93 LT1 A-4 car last year for $2200 with a branded title and over 222,000 miles on the clock.

(excluding a few of the typical roof paint bubbles and those are minor)
Much depends on how a car was treated and maintained, still for what he paid at least around here where I live that would be a deal. I gave $8000 for my SS and that was after looking at cars for over a year and searching in earnest with money in hand for 6 months.

Thanks for the kind words guys, it was one of those situations where the guy just didn't have the money to fix the issues. He needed money very badly, which is another reason I got the car for a good price. It's even to the extent where I was cleaning out the car and saw some of his pay stubs, with child support garnishing all his wages damn near, just one of these cases. All oil changes and stuff like that we're on time though, with brakes and stuff like that. So that was enough for
Me.
