Default Holley Hi Ram in 1st Gen Camaro

Hey guys,
Everything I read on LS1 Tech, Pro-Touring, and Lateral-G said that a Holley Hi Ram would not fit in a first gen camaro with a 2" Cowl Induction Hood. I kept measuring and thought it would fit in my application so I quit measuring and took the cutoff wheel by the horns. It fit with a 1/2" to spare. Here is my combination incase somebody is looking to do the same thing.
Holley engine mounts
Holley 4l80 trans crossmember
Holley LS7 Hi Ram
2" Cowl Induction Hood

Here are some more pics. This November will be 9 years I've been working on the car. Can't wait to finally get to drive it!

Ok, you got me there. For the people that said you would have to have a 4" or 6" cowl hood to clear it, you would still have to cut the bracing up under the hood.

And think you for the compliment. I set out to build what gm would have built as a copo option back in 67 camaro given today's technology if I was the head man at gm.

And there is no TB or air intake tube. Does all that fit?

With the front of the intake angled down, I can't see that part being a problem.

Mine hits by maybe 1/2"
I've got a light weight glass hood (thin) and it touches the intake at the bend.

Shouldn't be an issue. I measured where the throttle body goes to check clearance there as well. The only possible issue with clearing the intake tube would be the radiator and fans, not the hood.

What engine mounts did you go with? It is my understanding that the Holley mounts sit the engine lower than the other mounts on the market. That may give you the 1/2" that you need for clearance

The Holley mounts will definitely put the engine lower. Not only that, but you're driveline angles will be better.

Just to give you an idea how low the Holley mount bolts are compared to the subframe.

Yea that does look lower but changing that now means changing turbo mounts, intercooler piping, some of the down pipes. Wish I would of got them to begin with. the holley hi ram was a impulse buy but for now I'll cut the hood and maybe reshape it later.
Btw my drive line angle is spot on. A total of 2 degrees negative.

I'm most likely in my '67 going to run a High Ram, motor slid back with DD mounts. Then I'd just run a 4" cowl hood.

4" cowl should easily clear, just cut the bracing under the hood.

Could go edlebrock. I think the edlebrock pro flow is shorter but I'm not sure how it fits in a first gen.

I saw some had to cut for the edelbrock too because of the area around the throttle body.

Probably running a VFN 4" fiberglass hood, which I don't think will have bracing in the middle.
