Finally found my squeaking in the front of my car!! The shocks are still good but the bottom bushing that has the "plate" with two bolts at bottom holding the lower part of the shock on the lower control arm is shot. As I said the shock still rebounds good. Is there a replacement bushing for the shock?
It's hard to tell. I've got my stock struts in the garage and just took a look. Without knocking the thing apart I don't know that there's a way to figure out what that bushing actually looks like. Just based on a couple quick measurements, doesn't look like that bushing would fit - inner diameter of the bushing is small, outer diameter is big, length is off. The stock bushing has an outer shell that appears to be pressed in from one side - there's an outer lip on one end, but not the other.
I could probably grab a junkyard strut to take apart next time I get up to the junkyard. It would just be an FE1 strut, but I imagine that bushing is configured the same regardless of which "grade" of strut it is.
I did spray some WD40 on it and it stopped the squeaking. LOL
I really recommend against spraying wd40 on rubber bushings, WD40 is primarily a solvent and not a lubricant, it may short term alleviate the squeak but is also deteriorating the bushings quicker.
Might be worth a call to see if front and rear are interchangeable... https://creative-steel.com/shop/cadi...hock-bushings/
Hell, for $65 I might pull one of each and eyeball it and if it looks the same, take a shot.
