Kinda what most of us have believed; cathedrals good on the low end/midrange, but watch the big ports take over from there! Good info Hammer! Thanks!

I'm with you. It's kind of a pointless test unless the cams are also switched. That being said, I bet the LS3 heads and this cam still make more power than the 317s with an appropriate cam.

Just now seeing they only use one cam. That's way too much of a split for a 317 head. Maybe a 239/245 woiuldve been more optimal for the cathedral heads.

Ham makes threads like this to make himself feel bettr. Stoopid compare. A head that cant flow near 300cfm to a big square port on a 408ci stroker??
Put both those heads on a 4.8 or 5.3 w/ a cam speccd for the cath heads. Hmmm, motor more suited to smaller heads along with cam. 180 from this test.
