I have a 99 trans am all stock suspension with 18x8" rims. Front tires are 225/40 rear is 255/45. My wheel wells show a ton as you can see. Do I need bigger tires if so what size or lower it if so how low? Any help is appreciated. 99 trans am stock suspension 18x8 rims/

Gotta lower that thing....stock suspension is way too high on these cars, no matter what tires size rim/tire you use.

Depends on how tucked up they are...

I dropped my car 2.5 inches or so. Front end....maybe 3 inches. Not positive, just my guess. Love it.
18 x 9.5 rims in front.....275 tires.
18 x 10.5 rims with 315 tires rear

No issues at all. Except a little scrap over tall speed bumps or steep driveways, but then I hit them at an angle.

Your car doesn't look anywhere near 3" or 2.5" drop, maybe its the picture or angle though. What is your ground to fender measurement? Looks more like a 1.5-1.8" drop. Ive seen cars on sportlines (~2" drop) that look lower than that.

IMO bigger tires won't do it unless you are talking about some big drag radials.
Lower the car a little, make sure to get good shocks (you will thank me for that) and I would also get some different wheels that are wider, 8" wide is dinky, these cars came with 17x9s with 275/40/17s from the factory with the WS6, Firehawk, or SS package.

Absolutely.....rear dropped about 3 inches.....it was too low. I was rubbing the fender lip on every little bump. People could not sit in my back seat. I put a half inch spacer on the bottom of both springs and that fixed it. No more rubbing unless I hit a real big *** bump. So I guess I should have said the rear dropped 2.5 inches.

The front with just the G2 Super Springs, dropped it less than it did the rear. So luckily I have QA1 Hal adjustable shocks up front....I was able to screw them down so the car looked even. Because the front end was sitting higher than the rear.....

I'll measure the fender lips to the ground as soon as I get home....in December....LOL

Looks factory.......see how the front looks higher than the rear......thats classic factory set up. Might be an illusion....but its easily noticeable......
