Default First day out, all kind of issues.

I tried my car out at the track today but I had bad wheel hop and some electrical issues. When I launched, the car lost power momentarily and then again when shitimg into second. You can see the tail lights went out when leaving and you can hear the car shut down in second gear. Drives fine under normal conditions and it even does fine when under load on the street. It did it when it hooked. I have some checking to do but I am open to suggestions
With that horrible launch amd shutting down, it ran a 12.7@115 with a horrible 2.08 60ft. I have some homework to do.

Make sure your battery is not moving around and the terminals grounding on something.

If your battery is in the stock location...I can tell you with 99% certainty that it is rocking back and grounding out. It happened to me, ONCE, then I made a top mounted hold down for it.

Yes sir, simple solution. I will get to it this week while I wait for a new set of control arms. I have a little bushing squeak and the rear end has some play. I have boxed control arms that came on the car and I am suspecting the bushings might be shot.

It's ironic you posted this today. I went to Royal Purple Raceway last night with my six speed car and on the second pass, the car seemed to pretty much die and all of the lights on the dash came on. I didn't think about it but that damn well may be what that was. 4k RPM clutch dumps can move a few things around I guess. I have known my battery tray was in shitty shape for a long time but never really raced it at the track.

The time slip you posted looks almost identical to mine as well. The last pass I made there was no hiccup and the car went .4 faster.

Those poly bushings must have been beat on pretty good to have slop like that.

That's what I was thinking. The whole rear end had play.

Glad you found it too, pretty annoying and a track trip wasted!
