Default F Body oil dipstick measurement

Hi guys!

Weird question here!

As I'm in Australia and don't have access to an FBody oil dipstick, can anybody please give me a measurement if they have one lying around or have the inclination to unbolt it.

I'm after the measurement with the dipstick fully seated in the tube. How far out the bottom of the tube the dipstick sticks out.

Perhaps wither from where it seats in the block to the end of the dipstick so I know how long to make my custom dipstick.

Cheers!!!

Cheers for that! Just to be sure, the f body dipstick connects through the block, and the block dipstick location is the same on all ls?

hey slash965, just picking up on your old thread. I’m in a similar position. I have an LS2 with a f body pan. My dipstick has the part number for the ls2, which I have to assume is wrong. Did you fit the f body tube and dipstick and did it work ok?

cheers

Hi mate, I modified my dipstick by taking the measurement in the above photo and mKing sure it stuck out the same distance.

so remove your dipstick and tube. Fully seat it, then modify the body of the dipstick. Cut and re rivet just under the pull out finger loop to make it exit the dipstick tube the same amount. Note the measurements you want Are to that round seat where it goes into the block.

thanks mate, I will give that a go. Did you re-Mark the dipstick or were the original high /low markings in the correct place?

Cheers

thanks mate

Just checked my dimensions and I need to lengthen the dipstick or shorten the tube by 1” to get the same dimension from o ring on the tube to end of dipstick.

Its not the thing you want to get wrong.... 😳😂

How much oil do you add for sump and filter? I have came across a few different posts on the correct amount for top up.

Thanks 👍

Cut and leangthen the dipstick using rivets rather than cut the tube.

not sure on the oil, I found an amount online like you that married up with my new dipstick!

Then there is the "Old School Way". With the car level drain the crankcase and fill it with 4 qts and start it to fill the filter. Mark the dipstick with a scribe or file a notch in it then add 1qt and scribe of file a notch in the dipstick.
