Default Supercharger or turbo for street racing a 6 speed ?

Which would be better for street racing with a t56 camaro. Light weight with tires and suspsion work. A turbo or supercharger ?

Which power delivery be best with a t56. ?

My personal opinion - a supercharger, but you will get 100 different opinions.

Make sure your suspension is spot on, even with a light 10psi in my car, it will spin in 3rd at 60-70 mph on the street if you roll into it wrong - you have to be alert at all times.

Define street racing. Roll or dig?

This is true you will have 100 different opinions. I'd say procharger is your best bet. The reasoning behind it is with 6 gears you don't really plan to stay in a given gear very long. Turbos love a load while superchargers/prochargers just care about current RPM. They have usable power constantly so as long as RPM are up they make big power without lag. Makes for a fun driving experience and versatility. If you were auto I'd suggest turbo but I personally think manual=procharger auto=turbo and only dedicated race cars should run nitrous because it's not on demand. I promise pulling up next to a GTR with a cold bottle is annoying as **** haha.

Too many variables to consider.....mind providing more details as to your power goals and configuration?

1 more vote for 100+ different answers on this question. I will say this... No mater what type of forced induction you throw at your street car, keep the compression up on the motor for part throttle, stop and go traffic situations. I did not enjoy my low compression engine out of boost on my last setup.

1 vote for turbo here.
My T7875 doesn't miss a beat between shifts and comes on like a freight train.
Chevy guy is dead on with being alert at all times, I'm on street tires but I've had the tires spin at the top of 3rd at 70 mph more than once.
The first three gears require serious pedal effort, it mellows out after that.
I'm gonna tell you now that there is nothing more bad *** than banging gears in a turbo street car. $.02
A good friend of mine runs a 00 Camaro SS w/ a 408, PT88 and T56 and that car is a monster.
There's something to be said when your buddies car is putting bus lengths on you while black tracking for a quarter mile lol.

Turbo without question. But unless you don't mind driving the car like you despise it, you will lose races that you should easily win. But then, when you DO drive the car like you hate it...... then that t56 will begin to hate YOU.... and it WILL show. STRONGLY recommend automatic.

turbo T56 here and love it. Mind you I dont race much. I did have a 4l80e with a billet converter and got bored of it. Once I convinced myself I will RARELY race my car I decided T56 was the way to go. Fun rowing them gears in boost!

i just think the abuse a 6spd car takes racing is too much. turbo autos seem to run the streets and tracks for that matter.

twin turbo faceplated T56 here....fun factor is through the roof, but if you want to be quick and consistent on the street a clutch car is not the best starting point. Truly evaluate your goals for the car before heading down any path.

That said, if you're staying t56 I vote turbo because power management on the street is way easier....and you're gonna need it!

X2 I can tell you this from experience. I've had a manual car with S480 There's a reason why I dumped 6sp. My daily has a Procharger and is a complete mean street machine. I personally believe 6 speeds and supercharger were ment to be as goes with automatics and turbo. But there are some people that have has some decent success with manual transmissions and turbos. But end of the day to each their own.

Nothing like the raw brutal low end torque and power from blower on the street. Still pull pretty hard up top. Not as hard as a turbo but fairly well. So if you plan on dig racing then Manual all the way. Roll racing go turbo. But if you daily drive it do 50% Dig races and 50% Roll races. ??? I'd probably still say my procharger car is funner

You had two combinations with the same vehicle where the only variable was the compression ratio? Did you just change pistons and what were the two ratios?

Lol at "low end torque" with a procharger kit. If you think torque from a procharged car is brutal you haven't driven a turbo car...

THIS^^^ I roll around with 2:73, should be lazy right? Shiddd, you would think it was low geared from a dead stop....hard to make a turbo car soggy.

Other option is to trash the T56 and drop a 4 speed in,,, Or bump up to a jerico...
Jerico sequential is a religious experience on a big power car. Of course the tranny will double the value of the car.. LOL

A 400 would suffice.
