Got rear-ended pulling this back up my driveway Saturday. I was making a turn when the yoke got me.

Doctor said I was lucky that I didn't rip into the achilles tendon.

I'll get back after it once I've healed up but on a happy note some race car parts arrived this week.

Hopefully I can get around enough to degree the camshaft and check P-V on these 12cc domes.

Sucks not being able to push in the clutch on my stick car and take those Sunday drives right now and I'll be down for at least a couple of more weeks, so while I'm sitting around doing nothing I might as well clean this build thread up and take those inquiring minds back to how this whole thing got started. I wasn't planning on building another 4th Gen Camaro but my youngest son quickly lost interest in his car when he opted for C6 Grand Sport Corvette with a manual transmission and who could blame him. So in an effort to help him reach his dream car I purchased this car to help him with his down payment. The car has been sitting in my driveway for a few years anyway and it gave me a chance to build another one so why not, only this time I wanted something I could have for drag racing. I built the 01 with the intentions of racing it but after finishing I felt it was best to keep it more of a street car with those occasional trips down the track so my new goal is to build an LS370 and get this car into the 10's NA. Here are the pictures from the day I took this car over up to where it is today before I tore up the back of my ankle.

All I had to do was get the word out that this engine and transmission was free and it was gone like quick.

engine bay cleans up nice.....modding the airbox has become more popular lately. you wont regret it. i had my guy do the same as you except we ran the drag racing style delete cover, the flat type. you just cut away right next to the blower.

Had an MRI today and learned that I ruptured my Achilles tendon. Got an appointment with an Orthopedic surgeon tomorrow for an evaluation and to see what my options are but I'm pretty sure I won't be driving my stick car for awhile and what race car $$ I did have will be going bye bye which really blows.

Dang brother that is tough. However, I believe it is important to remember how easily it could be worse. I wish you a speedy recovery and maybe you can spend more time on tech until you are back to 3 pedals.

I'll be sure to take plenty of pictures and do my best to document the install. I installed the S60 in the 01 and it was pretty much plug and play and I'm expecting the same but we'll see.

I was gonna go that route but wanted to retain the heater and defrost so I presume you made some sort of crossover for the fan to allow for this.

Your absolutely right! I got real lucky because it could have been worse. I met with an orthopedic surgeon today and after some x-rays and an evaluation he determined that it's a partial tear and recommended an isolation cast as opposed to doing a surgery. It will take some time to heal but should make a full recovery and YES I get to keep some of my race car money so I'm in good spirits right now.

Fuel pump, regulator and free fuel pressure gauge showed up today!

Probably run new hard lines on the frame and still needing PTFE hose, fuel filters and all the fittings before I can tackle the fuel system. The plan was to get the tank and rear end installed then move onto the fuel system while doing the paint and body work along the way. Also need to finish the cylinder heads and the engine build but the car is going to start life as a 12.5:1 motor on E85.

Finally getting around to installing the Ferrea valves and TSP spring kit on the 823 cylinder heads and measure P-V and radial valve clearance for a 2.165 valve on these Wiseco 12cc domes. When I installed the cam I just installed dot-dot but it's always good idea to verify the cam is ground per the spec card.

Cam Motion 8620 cam ground to Pat G spec's

First thing was to get to TDC on the No.1. Piston stop is a more accurate way to this due to the dwell time of the rod and piston but I used a dial indicator for this.

The next step was to put a dial indicator on the intake lobe and then reach maximum lift in order to zero out the indicator. Then go .050 before max lobe lift and record your reading which I found to be 61 degrees.

Next step was to go .050 after max lobe lift and record that reading which I found to be 154.5 degrees. Add 154.5 to 61 and you get 215.5 degrees and then divide that by 2 and that will give you an intake centerline of 107.75 degrees. Based on the cam spec card the intake centerline calls for 108.1 degrees.

A side by side comparison of a stock L92 exhaust valve to the F1892P valve. I found that the top of the Ferrea valve is .015 lower than the stock exhaust valve when placed on the seat which is minimal. I'll be checking for P-V and radial valve clearance if I get some time to spare tomorrow.

Thanks...This build is taking forever and I'm trying but it's HOT as I'm sure you already know! This injury feels like someone kicked you right in your calf and my ankle swells up if I stand on that foot for more than a few hours but I keep telling myself to suck it up buttercup!
