Default New Summit Pro LS cams are here! Torkinators and T-6/Twin Turbo cams

We've got these in stock and up on the site now. We will be making a few updates on the site, but by and large it's good! Thanks G Atsma for holding our feet to the fire Lol.

Our SUM-8718R1 205/217 112+ 2 .500/.500 drop-in tow cam is a customer favorite. We wanted to pump up torque even more in engines as small as a 4.8L, so we added TWO new truck cams called the Torkinators!

SUM-8727R1 Truck Torkinator, 200 int. / 205 exh. 113 LSA+ 4 adv. .550 int. / .550 exh., -9 I/O, 29 I/C, 40 E/O, -14 E/C, -23 overlap. Note this intake closing point is 29 abdc a full four degrees eariler than SUM-8718R1. This wll shift the powerband down even further BUT with .050 extra lift, that's going to help through the range and keep it still fairly strong all the way to 6k rpm. It's designed for use with our SUM-174002 LS6 springs.

SUM-8728R1 Big Truck Torkinator, 212 int. / 218 exh. 110 LSA +3 adv. .600 int. / .585 exh., -1 I/O, 33 I/C, 42 E/O, -4 E/C, -5 overlap. This thing is all attitude. It's for the guy looking for a True tow cam with 33 abdc intake closing, but also wants a bit of an idle to it AND we've pushed this to .600 lift. This cam has more torque and power production than anything else we've seen on the market. The truck lobes are designed for long spring and valvetrain life and our new SUM-174004 .600 lift beehive springs are the perfect match! This would make an excellent turbo cam with 4.8 for instance. Also good for a turbo car where the owner is looking for good streetability and wants to retain the stock stall converter.

Next up, our Stage 1-4 Turbo cams continue to rock. SUM-8720R1, SUM-8715R1, SUM-8706R1, SUM-8716R1 and SUM-8717R1. These cams are designed for Single T4 applications and we've limited overlap to 2 degrees. We are now at the point that T6's and Twins are more common and we've upped increased overlap to take advantage of better turbine flow. These cams start at 6 degrees overlap and end as large with 20 degrees of overlap for Big cubic inch 8000 rpm operation! These larger cams will work with 5.3's but torque converters will need to be in the 5000 rpm range. We expect these to be used in race cars with completely open front-exit exhaust.

We will be adding the -1 and -2 cam and spring kits soon so keep and eye out for those. We have a lot more in the pipeline for 2022 so it's going to be an exciting year!

What about a nasty NA cam. The type that will make you cringe but u can't live with out. The type that has a lope so nasty that even when you're recording it makes your teeth chatter.

Saturn stage V Sum-8721R1 is pretty nasty even in something as big as a 427! Definitely a cam one needs to commit to. 8709 tame in comparison.

I you have something for an LS1 comparable. I'm looking for something lopy with plenty of chop that makes good power. 👍🏼
I'll be using Comp short travel lifters so.

The Big Truck Torkinator, 212 int. / 218 exh. 110 LSA +3 adv. .600 int. / .585, looks very tasty!

Similar to the TSP 212 / 218 .600 / .600 110 +2. I would be interested to see if anyone puts this in a 5.7, it would have been on my list.

I agree! You don't usually see a 212/218 on a 110, plus with that much lift. Usually on a 114 and .550 or so. This one's gonna catch some asleep at the wheel!

Why don't you step up, buy a cam and run in one of your personal vehicles? Then you can then give some actual cam advice based on your first hand experience. Seems like a win win.

No worries, valid question.

With all these spiffy new cams, G Atsma has the perfect opportunity to finally step up to the plate and actually do an aftermarket cam after endlessly advising others on cam selection.

Basically, when giving mod advice on LS cams, I believe one should actually walk the walk and have/get some direct personal experience with an aftermarket LS cam in ones own vehicle(s).

I've dealt with cam choice issues in my past. My present vehicles are in decent enough shape as to not need any tearing down at present, but I have plans for my personal Tahoe when the need arises. it now has just over 200k miles on it, but still runs too well to tear it down. Blasted long-lived LS engines....

You'll be making the same excuses at 350k, ten years from now if the vehicle is well maintained.

Yep they don't really break they just get modified by those brave enough to make something happen. My 01' LQ4 in my auto X Camaro is on it's 4th cam swap in 30k miles and still on the original cam and main bearings though it is bored 0.065" over and the engine had 282,xxx miles on it and a broken rod when I pulled it. You know It cost me less than a "G" to build. It's about time you do "something" with all of your Ls "knowledge" or move on and leave us alone with your peach seed pooping drift hating BS. How can you constantly chime in and help steer people with their money and time when you haven't taken a real plunge into the hobby yourself?
