Default single digit guys, how are u launching?

2 step?
tranny brake?
foot brake?

Also what transmission are you running th400's? powerglides? 4l60e/4l80e?

Looking for suggestions on what to run next year, getting back into drag racing with the car. Car is also street driven on nice days, anybody else?

Thanks in advance!
Mike

My wifes weekly driven '02 WS6 all motor car,TH400(QA1/madman susp.)- we normally leave on the footbrake to keep it off the bumper-transbrake it if we want to scratch the bumper up a little!
My '98 WS6 daily driven nitrous car,TH400(stock susp)-Footbrake on drag radials, normally leaves nice carrying the tires out. Transbrake=drags the bumper!

Thanks for the quick reply nosjnky,

Can i ask what gears your running in the rear? My 4.10s worked awesome with the car NA but i think with nitrous at the track it'll be to much. Thinking of dropping down to 3.73s at least....?

How do u like driving the th400s, do you have them setup to just put in 3rd and drive lettting the tranny shift (based on vacuum?), OR so you have manual valve body's and shift them yourself? And if you do have a mvb, are you able to downshift on the street at will say a nice shiney red viper pulls up along side you while your going 45mph? or is downshifting a no-no? I've heard both sides of the story, some say its fine to do at long as the rpm your downshifting too is within your converter range and u dont pull down the motor, other say no never downshift an auto tranny.

Thanks, Mike

PS. draggin the bumper = coooooool

I run 3.70 gears in both cars with 28" tires, perfect for 1/4 in my cars and still get good cruising speed. I run a manual valve body in both as well and love it. Yes ,you can downshift/upshift at any speed within range for those pesky Vipers!(just remember to put it back in first when you come to a stop). If you do a TH400 definately go with a Manual valve body.

That sounds awesome nosjnky, i'm liking the sound of it alot, thanks for all the advice!

I had alot of different opinions with my old th400 in reguards to downshifting and upshifting. People told me NO way! but then i'm thinking of situations of street driving, like your comming up to make a left had turn with the light still green your slowing down but not stopping, normally if u had a 6speed you'd want to downshift. So that sounds great!

i'm footbraking a 4l80e in my 'vert. using a 3400 Vigilante stall, 3.50 gears, M/T 28x10.5s. car is pretty consistent 1.37-1.38 60's. leaves with the front tires about 3-4inches up. no transbrake, or 2 step here. the trans is vacuuum modulated and is setup for full automatic or will hold any gear when shifted.

geez... sorry about the slow reply. i forgot i posted in this thread...
i had a local guy build it. used to work with him at the chevy dealer. he's on his own now doing well. Brooks Transmission in Tremont, IL. i think it was 2000.00 otd, core included, not including the converter. i did all the swap stuff myself, including the harness and crossmember. so far, so good! i'm not sure what he would quote... i trade w/ him all the time. i'm sure it would be very reasonable.

Doesn't that non-lock up stall get anyoing. I drive a 4400 stall but it is a lock up converter so it's not that bad at all.
