Default BBC conversion cost

Looking for options to throw into a '95 v6 camaro....

Just curious how much throwing a BBC would cost..

I know it depends on how crazy the motor is, but i'm talking about the converting part. fuel, mounts, fabbing, etc.

I have never done a 4th gen, going to be doing my 89 RS, but i found headers for cheap and my factory motor mounts have no problems working. You will be deeper into the conversion with having to use different mounting equipment and no one makes direct fit headers for cheap.

Well, that goes with time, money and patience as well as YOUR ability to be able to mod/weld. Yes, it can.

I would say about $3000. That is for manual rack, BMR k-member, headers and misc parts you will need to adapt certain items so they will work with your combo.

I have 2800 just in chassis and suspension to change my 97 car into a SBC car.

I went with a diffrent K-member for weight purposes but for BB you have to I believe. I went with BMr componets up front and strange DA shocks and springs.

If you can weld and fabricate then it'll cost much less but to get the parts and slap it together will be in the neighborhood of $3000.

If you want to use motor plates Burkhart makes a nice chromoly piece that is around the same price as the BMR.

Rear end isn't needed to convert, stock one works, but obviously will break if you beat the **** out of it. Stock trans mount will work just fine and bolts in the stock location, stock driveshaft works too obviously. Fuel depends on your setup, carb you need to get a new lines to replace the plastic ones and a new regulator to lower the pressure. If you go FI you obviously need more stuff like rails, injectors, regulator.

Everything else is related to the engine, meaning manifold, choice of ECM, radiator/fans, power steering versus manual, etc. If I had a running drivable 93-97 car I could swap in a stock carb'd BBC out of a truck or something no problem for under 5K.

Why BBC? I have a 402 Stroker that makes that kind of power easily, and twice the gas mileage.

My buddies are all hardcore drag racers. With all their spare BBC parts I could build one nasty motor cheap.

This car would probably be a little more drag then street. Like you said with a BB i'm not going to have sh*t for mileage.

oh, and i forgot to mention I have a th400 i'm puttin in as well...

BMR k-member w/ mounts for BBC $500
BMR trans mount $100-$150 (they have them for most trans)
Hooker headers, PN 2455, $175
Driveshaft $150-$300
Manual Rack (bolt in) $650, (weld in) $300 (includes steering shaft and knuckles).

Depending on how much fabricating you want to do, it could be installed for as little as $700 to $900.

I agree with you. You can get that power out of a small block. 600FWHP is pretty light for a BB. I'd rethink spending that much on a BB rated at that much power.

Scott Shafiroff out of NY can make you a pump gas 434 rated at 595FWHP. That comes with a warranty.

I say if you want to go big block go with this monster! http://www.ultrastreet.net/engines/632_bigdawg_bc.asp

Just kidding.

$750 in the Crank, $375 in the Rods, $500 in the Pistons, and about $300 for Balancing and Bearings.

Build your BB and I'll out run your cost in Gas Mileage savings..lol

ZONE89RS, I have a "running " build sheet for my 97 camaro BBC. I can email it to you if you'd like to post it for this topic. It's in excel, but I can put it what ever format you need.
