This new MSD ignition will auto sense 24x and 58x crank reluctors and will work with 1x or 4x cam reluctors regardless of which crank reluctor is used.

Your Vortix Oil Pump Drive looks to be different than my product as yours has an plastic cam, mine is AL.
I am NOT sure as to the "Auto Sense" quality as the ONLY way to do this is to RULE OUT teeth which LOWERS the acccursacy of the Spark Instant.
What dwell will you run with my coils ?
I manufacture an OIL Pump Drive with 24xe, a 58x(60-2 with 4 pole sync), a 48-2.
These are all compatible with my IGN-8 AND GM OEM ECS.
I've been asked what this would cost compared to a "normal" ignition.
It's not too costly for what you get but certainly more than an HEI or regular distributor/CD box/coil setup.
The MSD box is $375 (Summit)
The Holley crank trigger is $268 (Summit)
The 1x cam sync, United Ignition Wire 9362 aluminum housing distributor is $86 (ebay)
8 LS1 coils can be had used with valve cover brackets as cheap as $100 on ebay
So this can be accomplished for about $830.
There may be some cost added for wiring harnesses and/or plugs. EFIConnections offers blank caps for the distributor starting at $30.
GM's D585 coils are a little better than their other coils. Holley/AEM Smart coils, which are the best, can be over $600 a set plus anywhere mount brackets.

Thanks Lance for stepping in here.
The GM 1x distributor is easily available for a very reasonable cost with an aluminum housing with a steel cam gear. It's pictured in post one and I've noted it's make, model and current cost above. It's used on many thousands of Chevy V8 and V6 engines.
I was un-aware you were the manufacturer of the Holley Smart Coils, I had believed they were made by AEM.
And I do believe Holley makes the above 58x crank trigger themselves in house.
The 24x/1x system is more than capable for gen3 LS ignition and fuel control. The 58x system was developed to improve sensor resolution for gen4 LS oil manifold control to disable cylinders. I'm certain 58x is more than adequate resolution for ignition use only. For ignition use only, the 1x cam signal is all that's needed to tell the ignition system which stroke the pistons are on. I believe this is how MSD was able to use either 1x or 4x cam sensing to work with the 58x crank signal for ignition only use.
If you offer a Chevy distributor style trigger, I wasn't able to find it even after days of searching for how to make this work.
Can you give us some links to these products you offer? What is their availability here in the US?
I should note that this MSD box will fire coils in the newer LS firing order. Using it on an original old school engine requires you to re-arrange the coil plugs. It's easy to do.

I wish, though, you would try my IGN-8 in place of the MSD.
The IGN-1A coil IS manufactured IN CHINA (OEM Level Plant) stating OTHER than this fact is against US Law.
The 60-2 TW "art" is allowed to ALL as the patent expired in 2006.
My Vortic used a STEEL GEAR also with TWO DIFFERENT HEAT Rockwells TO BE SPECIFIED ( a choice at order) and MUST BE COMPATIBLE with the Camshaft Gear.
The 24xe was used by GM FOR THE REASON of "Patent In Force" providing 1-2 degree resolution @ 2500 RPM Acceleration Rate.
The 60-2 (58x) was developed (1984) for ACCURATE CRANKSHAFT POSITION MEASUREMENT. (1/4 DEGREE @ 2500 RPM Acceleration Rate)
The USE of the 60-2 by GM in 2006+ engines resulted in a compression ratio increase, NO EGR, AND fuel consumption was reduced.
THE 60-2 is a TW seen by the EMS as 59 teeth, those GM engineers can't even COUNT !

I will be using this ignition setup with the Holley Sniper stand alone FI system.
Sorry, I meant doing exactly that. Let the MSD box control timing and the throttle body handle fueling. You won't get a fuel sequential setup, but it would be pretty damn efficient. I've been wanting to do a 302 SBC for a while, and wanted to go with a full 24x system to run off a 411 PCM, but this might be a better option for me.
The good folks at EFIConnections offer dual sensor timing covers for SBC for 24x/1x or 58x/4x systems. You can have your LS1 sequential system with CnP system.
Is this all for a desire to run 8 coils? If not, I know MSD makes a ignition that does all the same function for the 6010/6012 butnfir a SBC with a distributor. Found that out years back.
Yes, this is for those that want to run LS style coils, one coil per cylinder.
Sequential fuel injection needs crank and cam position sensors to get the injector timing correct and most of those systems will do individual coils.
BUT they need 24x/1x OR 58x/4x crank & cam sensors. These parts make it easy to do on any small block or big block. The trick is the easily available 58x crank sensor and 1x cam sensor that this new MSD box will work with. No other system that I can find works with these otherwise incompatible sensors.
There is no 24x crank sensor or 4x cam sensor for Mk IV big blocks.
The crank trigger is nice its much simpler than retrofitting an early cover for the internal rector which just slides on. At that point you could also just throw on a harness and a 411 computer and go full EFI.

Reading all of this has just truly piqued my interest and desire to find a better and cheaper ign/ fuel controller for the gen2 LT1/4 engines.
Yeah but notice I said "CHEAPER", EFICONN is way over priced imo, and I've done the jy thing and got me some lsx coils, brackets, 0411 pcm, but getting my PainLess LT1 harness repinned/configured for the 0411 pcm seems to be the holdup at this junction. I need someone who can configure my harness for the cnp, but I plan on using a dizzy and OS from an 02' express van vortec engine because the dizzy has the cam sensor built into it(plus it's much cheaper than the EFICONN timing cover).
Paul I have dealt with Lance he is a standup guy and saved me tons of money on my build I am running a holley 58x wheel a 882c ecu from pantera and I bought a vortec distributor off ebay to use for cam sensor. I agree it is the only way to run a engine. Look forward to seeing more. He worked with me I was able to source some stuff hunting around to save money he had no problems helping guide me when I had a question even if it did not envolve his products. I am on hold till my cam and heads come in they were special ordered.
Hi ALL as a team member of the GM DIS ignition (circa 1984 with Buick V-6 in 1985 and Buick GN Turbo development project) I can state Most ALL if NOT ALL EMS, ECU, IGNITION manufactures offer quality LS ignition.
I know this AS A FACT as we supply/have supplied most of them with their coils.
We supply timing covers for both SBC/BBC with the TW next to the timing chain UNDER the cover with sensor mount AND have done so for over thirty years.
NOTE : There is NO NEED to fit a CAS with a 60-2 (58x) Crankshaft TW when eight coils are fitted. (NO 1x CAS REQUIRED)
This is if the system is Degree Based and an Aftermarket Controller.
I believe in GOOD Tech, now to add the cost REQUIRED to modify ANY GM EMS, to turn of VATS, adjust Timing, get TDC CORRECT, etc. ADDS greatly to the overall cost of a LS ignition upgrade to the SBC/BBC.
