For the last few days I’ve been tirelessly extracting broken exhaust manifold bolts, most of which I had to drill and tap out. I’ve also been working on fitting these headers. Turns out that they need a decent amount of modification. I’m in the process of relocating a primary tube on the passenger side which was no where near clearing the k member. The flanges on both of the headers need to be clearances as well, for the lower head bolts and spark plugs. I included a pic of the driver side scribed with the 8.1 gasket, before removing the material. I haven’t tried fitting the drivers side yet, but I imagine it’ll need a primary moved as well.

Doesn't have to look pretty as long as it's doing the job.
I saw this design the other day and thought it was a great idea for building exhaust manifolds when you're limited on space. It's probably not the best flow design but this design compared to a shorty header, you're probably looking at 5 to 10 hp difference.

It is. I'm just referring to the short smaller runner feeding into a larger diameter log type tube collector. It makes it more compact and easier to route down the side of the block or down the back of the block. Easier than 4 individual tubes.

Nice build! Are you going to fab up an adapter to angle the throttle downward? Another idea for more hood clearance is to put some spacers between the K-member and the body. May have to run a cowl hood either way, but right now you'd have to have a ridiculous scoop to fit it under a hood, lol.

Got a bunch of stuff knocked off the punch list yesterday, as Mondays are my one day off. Got the trans cooler mounted and lines run, the upper radiator hose hooked up, the power steering lines all taken care of (I used the return from the 93-97, and the supply from a 98-02), driveshaft installed, and torque arm installed. Only other big things left are getting the drivers side header modified, getting the 16” cooling fan (pusher) installed and wired, fabricating a throttle cable bracket off the intake, and doing a little brake line work (to delete the abs/ proportioning valve and install the new valve and line lock. Everything after that is just putting things back together and chasing electrical and tuning gremlins.
