I am currently in the process of building my 383. It made 538/453 today at the engine dyno. We are having the intake manifold prot matched to give us more flow and we will be running 2" primaries instead of the 1.75" on the dyno. All of this running on pump gas. Both my engine guy and the dyno guy said with a bigger cam and race fuel, it would make 700+ easy. Check out my post in here "Dyno numbers inside" I have all of my components listed.

Here are a couple of links to a slew of good combos:

Thanx Guys.

Not to be argumentative, but a 162 horsepower jump from just a cam is a ton!! Is your cam now way small?

Also, depending on comp ratio, race fuel sometimes hurts power, we picked a tenth up when I dropped from straight 110, to a 110-94 mix with my 421 when it had 11.3:1 comp., so you never know.

LS1, those with any numbers are all with power adders.

I need to do these #s N/A, for now anyway, ultimately the goal is to go centrifical, but our business is down, and until I get tthe new products selling, we are confined to a tight budget.

Thanx for the reference tho.

How often would you have to readjust that solid roller in the 530hp combo or any for that matter?

Thanx 68, I'll check that site out.

I would like to run lo tens on motor, but I will need to keep my AFR 220s.

I'm also looking at doing a 3.5 stroke, 4.155 bore combo, to capitalize on the larger bore and unshrouding the valve.

I built a 385 (3.040" bore x 3.75" stroke). It has the usual goodies, 4-bolt block, Eagle crank, stock rods with ARP bolts & bushed small end, KB pistons, Crower Cam (.547/.574 lift)(262/274@.050) 112LS, GMPP Fast Burn heads, 1.6 rockers, Victor 4500 Intake, 1050 Dominator, HVH/NX Super Sucker nitrous kit, Holley Strip Annihaltor ignition system, 2" primary tube headers, electric water pump, Holley 500 GPH Dominator pump & built TH350 w/3600 RPM converter. When I get back in town next week I'm going to try and finish installing it and wiring the car. As soon as I have some HP and track numbers I'll post them. I'm hoping to run ORSCA's 7.00 class next season with it. My problem is I'm always so busy with work I don't get to work on it very often.

Getcha,

Now those are #s I'm looking for.

The more I see tho, the less confidence I have in my AFR 220s to get the #s I need.

My truck is 3170 w/me, and my best n.a pass was a 10.62 this year! I think I should've been quicker, best 1/8 was a 6.76. That was a healthy 421.

I really think , at least for my purposes, the 220s just ain't gettin er dun!

If you ditch the 220s would you get AFR 215 raised runners?

91,

No, if I did get a RR it would be the AllPro RR head, they have a 245cc runner. If I remember right.

But I've seen alot of big #s with the AFR227s tho.

8,

Thats what the 380 would be, a 4.155 bore, with a 3.5 stroke, and I would cam it big and let 'er fly!

What inch motor would these be on (421)? Just because you can get a ton of flow with a head does not mean it is the best head. Same is true with the Carb. You will have the ability to flow a lot of air but there will be no velocity.

My 383 is as follows:

4.030X3.75
5.7" Rod
12.5:1
Custom Solid Roller
750 HP Carb
215CC Dart Pro 1 2.05/1.60
Super Victor Intake

Best Run: 10.56 @ 125 1.45 60'
in a Stock Suspension 3100 lb 66 Nova
Powerglide W/8" 5600 Stall Converter & 4.56 Gears

If you plan on making at or over 600 hp on motor and then boosting it later on then I would definitly plan on getting a mowtown block or and equivilant. I wouldnt push the stock block to much further past about 750 or so. I got my block for around 2400 and then had all the machine work done to it. I know its not cheap, but would you rather spend more money now or spend an *** load later when the block splits and ruins the intire motor? Good luck!!

Thanx for all the replies fellas!

But it looks like I'll be throwin my 421 back together and using my 18* heads and we'll see what happens.

Anyone need a set of AFR 220s?
