Default which rotating assembly should I choose?

Hello. I'm new to the forums and would like some opinions on a good forged rotating assembly for my 350 ho crate engine. I want to run a procharger D1sc s/c and would like to run about 12lbs of boost with an intercooler. What compression should I shoot for (8.5?) also are there any down sides to stroking the engine to a 383? I know max revs will be decreased but are there any other detrements to doing so? Any help would be appreciated e.g. specific brands that have a good track record and value. thanks

383 is not going to be much more money because you are going to be buying crank, rods, pistons. with the right cam you can rev a 383 as high as you want

Well, you definately want forged everything so, lets see...here are some websites with kits you can look at...http://www.rpmmachine.com/350-chevy-...roker-sb.shtml and http://www.strokerkits.com/350___383_forged.htm,

I am happy with my all-forged 383 kit with JE SRP blower pistons from speedomotive.com.

I would aim for between 9:1 and 9.5:1 for a centrifugal blower - that way you'll have good off-boost performance and still be able to run decent boost with a good intercooler.

Are you going to run EFI?

I'm using Eagle rotating parts in my 383 at the moment (cast crank and SIR rods - goot to 500 crank hp) along with TRW forged pistons. If using a blower I'd step up to JE, SRP or similar lightweight pistons, and Eagle's forged H-beam rods and crank (good to 800 hp).

Thanks for the replies. I hve heard good and bad things about eagle internals. So compression of arounf 9.0:1 is a good tradeoff between response and max boost level? Any more recomendations?

if you have the HO motor from GM with the stock iron heads (small ports remember) then good flowing 200cc at least for supercharged engines will give you more HP than just a 383 ci change from 350 ci (I know you`re looking for forged internals and since you`re at it 383 is better than 350 if the diff in price isn`t that bad )

there is the patriot performance genI sbc 100% CNC Ported heads .... just check if your intake and heads are vortec then a diff intake will be needed ....

my point is heads in general (not disgarding the cam and intake)
are the power makers LS1 is 5.7 L and LT1 is the same and somebodys grandpa`s 1984 suburban sbc 350 is the same ...
put the same cam (cam spec) on them all and see the flywheel HP
now put the same supercharger on them all same boost of course and see how much they make .... LS1 isn`t better because it`s an aluminum block!

sometimes I keep writing as if I`m talking to people that doesn`t know what I`m saying and explaining manythings and sometime repeating .... I don`t mean to I`m just that type of explain and talk talk talk ....sorry if this is out of the subject and if it`s something you already know and wasn`t looking at and I wasted your time

just a thought

Not always true when a smaller port AFR head 195cc will flow about the same or outflow most 200cc heads and will keep mid-range torque up without a loss in hp.

my suggestion is patriot performance 215cc the street version with a roller blower grind cam 550-580 intake lift.....sorry for all this it`s a rotating assembly Q I vote just choose the cheapest balanced 4340 forged assembly and since you`re paying anyway make it a 383 or even a 391 with the same 30 overbore if I`m not wrong.

383 is a 4.000 bore with a 3.800" stroke or 4.030 bore with 3.750" stroke and a 395 would be a .030 bore and 3.875 stroke but a 388 would be a .060 bore with the 3.750 stroke.
