Default bbc into 4th gen- motor and tranny mounts?

I have been researching some general information on what is necessary to swap a BBC into a 99 firebird. so far i have found that i will need the bmr crossmemeber and hooker 2455's.
what engine mounts do i need? is there a set that will move the engine forward an additional amount.
For what transmission will i need to fabricate a custom mount?
Will my customer be able to retain his wipers?
any other additional general information would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Tony

The SCB/BBC forum is where you need to look. I'll take the liberty of moving your thread over there.

You'll be able to retain the wipers. The trans mount will depend on what tranny you use. Look under my screen name and you'll find some photos of what I've got. All the photos I have are with my motor sitting 2" too far back and I was able to keep everything just had some clearance issues. You also won't need any engine mounts they come with the BMR k-member.

Yep, mounts come with the member. Driver side header slides in no problems, passenger firewall needs to take a beating to fit. I'm running an LT1 bellhousing and T56 and everything was able to bolt up without a problem. I'm using a Vic Jr. (2904) intake and haven't gotten as far as cutting the cowl yet for the dist or TB, but I'm hoping to be able to retain my wipers. Everything else is pretty straight forward. Pleanty of room for radiator, fans, elec. w/p, etc.

Hopefully I can get one once I figure out what TB I'm going to be running and get a poster board template made with some pics. They said their LS1 style TB will be about 4.125 inches tall and should be good for the application. With that measurement it will definitely be close using a WS6 hood with the supports cut out. Their intake flange is 3/8 of an inch so maybe I can mill it down a little if there's a problem.

I'm putting together a F Body with an aluminum headed BBC with a glide or a 400 turbo. The car will have mini tubs and ladder bars. The car has t tops and it will be gutted. Does anyone know how much it will weigh. also does anyone have any puctures of under the hood near the windshield. I'm trying to get a few ideas on what to do about the carb being up that high. Thank you all

hard to say weight wise, ill have to weigh mine when its all done, Im guessing a cast block?? my best guess would be 3200, depending how much you pull, you can pull all you want,, but that bottom end of a 454, th400, roll cage, 12 bolt rear, will throw weight on a rolling body quick!! im still going to have a full leather interior, I gutted everything under the dash, ac, heater, core etc. id be happy if i saw 3300 when its done. just pick up a 454 crankshaft... youll loose ambition!! if anyone has a cast BB 4th gen thats not a vfn body weighing under 3000 pounds ill shake there hand!! We all know were throwing out practical and reliable, so make the strongest, craziest, BB you can before droping it in. my 496,13:1 compression with n20 on top should have no problem moving a few hundred extra pounds.

And CRT - Bmr also sells tranny crossmembers that retain the torque arm mount, just figure out what tranny the guy wants to run, 700, 400, glide, and youll need some new gauges for everything!! Heres what i did with my dash, if i can get anykind of demand ill start making more plates, mine fit under the original plastic cover, and the gauges are laid out like factory,

I put my motor back in this weekend. I've got a high ride in take and the windshied wiper sits right inbetween my carb and dist. Its a close fit but it'll work. I'll be posting some pictures later on this week or everything.

A little off topic, but what do you guys that drive or plan to drive on the street use for an air cleaner? I've toyed with the idea of a BBC into a 4th gen, and clearance seems adequate between just a TB or carb and a cowl induction style or SS hood, but there doesn't look like there'd be much room for an air cleaner. (the only pics or cars I have seen are all race cars.) I suppose you could go with an elbow and route it down to the front if you're using EFI.

Pics, thoughts?

Thanks,
