Vortec 350ci..11's?? 350+rwhp?? Lets hear it.
Sorry about the book but,...1985 IROC-Z (Silver ) T-5 wc and a nwc T-5 spare, 4.10 8.8, Centerforce DF clutch, B&M Ripper, MT-ET street radials on IROC's, Lakewood LCA's
Hedman LT's w/ 3" X-pipe and 40 series flows dumped, 825 MIGHTY Demon, Dual snorkel air cleaner, Crosswind intake port matched, 1.5 roller rockers,
LUNATI 54756 232/242 .510/.525 on 110 w/ 106 centerline
Vortecs bowl blended and port matched, studded, guide plates, milled .030"
350ci Vortec, 0 decked, hypeutectic flattops, 10.7ish:1
Aluminum rad, 16" elec. fan
only weight red. is radiator, fan, NO A/C, swiss cheesed bumper supports,
Oh yeah, gonna DRIVE THE **** OUT OF IT! When it breaks, I'll put G-force gearset in the WC box. I have the majority of these parts. Need the carb, 8.8, tires, LTs and x-kit. I have shorties, 4776 600 DP and 40K mile .060 stock bottom going in until I finish the Flattop Vortec short block(has perfect cylinders) and a 89 L98 cam going in this month.
What do you think the above setup will net me in the 1/4, and what do you think it'll dyno???

we will see.... I will bet I see mid 1.6x 60's and at least 112mph. What do you think a Stock headed LT1 would run with this cam?? NOT trying to be optimistic, but these are gonna be some killer heads for what they are.
LT1's are making like what, 300-325rwhp with BOLT-ON's, RIGHT?? AND with a Cam swap??? Come on guys. I am not just slapping it together and expecting it to run these times. This car is gonna see the track 2-4 times a month once the track opens. And I can bang the gears with the best of 'em. I'm not just talking out my *** either. This car will tuned and tweeked 'til i runs the number. It will get some Welds with skinnies and slicks when the Air goes Cold too.

Killer heads? Vortecs with a bowl blend and port matching is far from killer. Good heads for good price, but not killer. That cam is pretty mild also. And why the 825 carb..just because it sounds like a good number? I am curious to see what you make. If you trap 112 and cut a 1.6 60' then you should hit a low 12 all day...but I dont think its happening. I stand by my last prediction.

Killer for WHAT THEY ARE. More like fully ported heads. If I get on here and say I am porting a set vortecs, Everyone will say "just port match and bowl blend, thats all they need". Sure, Okay if you wanna run like every one else. I Have studied EVERYTHING that I can find on porting Vortecs. They should flow 245-255cfm, and thats if they are flowed on a bench in which they only flowed 220ish stock.
825=growing room. I am getting a settlement in a couple of months of about 10,000 because I cut my face with a grinder at work(company didnt own a faceshield and no guard) and am gonna start a 6.0L L92 headed Carbed motor.

Good luck with that. Reading on porting and doing porting are two different things. 10k for a settlement and you are gonna burn it on an engine??? I guess seeing the scars on your face 20 years from now will remind you of the engine you once had. Good luck with your engine and I hope it runs as good as you plan. I am standing by my prediction.

That motor should make an easy 400 at the flywheel, and best case power of around 435-445hp.
Depending on how light it is, you could very well see some 11s out of it with a great launch on a sticky tire. I'd guess close to around 340 at the wheels. Keep in mind most people who have a SBC make way less power than they think they do. An honest 425hp should motivate your Iroc nicely if you can get it to bite.

its all about the details. windage tray, detailed oil passages and returns, polished rod beams. Light weight damper, TOTAL SEAL rings.etc.
Studytime, how did you mount the torque arm bracket on 8.8? is bolted on through the web? I think I read that right, RIGht? My buddy and I are gonna fab one up this spring.

I agree in the 400's. Think about it, a stock 96-00 5.7 Vortec was factory rated at 255 HP. Add in a good intake manifold, carb setup & a bigger cam, I dont see no reason to believe anything less. Take a look in some of your old car magazines. Seems like every one has a Vortec Headed engine on a dyno somewhere. My brother has a rather budget Vortec 355 w/ a RPM airgap intake, Holley 600, and a 240ish degree .500 lift cam. his engine setup has been a proven 380 fwhp.

It cam up with 424 HP. With about a 20% realistic drivetrain loss that puts you at 339.2 HP at sea level conditions and 100% efficiency. I was trying to give real world number's that you could count on. Also keep in mind that I can't simulate every condition on a actual running engine with the program. It could be + or - 5% of the numbers that it gives me. The program is just a helpfull tool to be able to get a idea of how your combo is going to perform.

there is no way in hell though a T5 eats 20%. a th350 w/ a 3000stall yeah. 15% tops...Realistically.
so yeah REAL world numbers I can count on according to your calculations, an easy 340rwhp and possibly the 360ish rwhp I would LOVE to see.
This is a ***** Out set up without be too radical for the street. What do you think it would do if YOU were building this set up and going for max hp and ET?
So far I have LESS THAN $2500 in the whole CAR. The car came with some parts, scored A LOT of good deals...Vortec Longblock w/ spun rod for $50,
Cam, LCA's, Edelbrock STB, and Fabbed Dual hump X-member(all new, but passed around between a few people) for a 5 yr old pioneer CD player.

Your right the T-5 may not eat up but 15%, but did you consider your suspension and rear end losses? If I was building this motor I wouldn't be useing a hyd flat tappet cam. Solid flat tappet or roller cams are much better for HP & TQ. Not to mention the over carburation. No I would probably match my components to each other. I have a old 355 9.4:1 with ported 882 heads in my dad's 79' Camaro making 450 HP right now.
