8.1L 496 MODS? what would you do?
Yo, just bought a 2001 silverado2500hd with a 8.1L 496 in it with an auto trans. this truck looks sweet but is all stock. I just got the exhaust done. its now a 2.5" true dual flowmaster system which sounds nice. what else is there out there to make this big bitch even badder? intake? headers?tune? plugs, wires? its got 86K on it.

The only thing you should need...
I think I read something about a company making cams for them also but I forget who.

Miles don't matter on these anchors.
Whipple supercharger FTW basically. After that, pistons and a pulley for excess.
Raylar does make some killer heads cam intake package.
I don't know much about turbo for 'em, but these are torque crack addicts, feed em down low and focus on torque and ye shall reap rewards.
Do you have the allison or the 85e? Btw, check out performancetrucks.net
There's a few 8.1's lurking around.

dont k ow much about them in trucks but google ultrapower and there is a company that reprograms ecu's on the 8.1 on rv's and get like 70hp and 75tq with a flash and a cold air intake and different plugs and wires. Also many people are getting like 1-2 more mpg in RV's. Worth a look.

I
need the 8100 for my 68 Impala and want to go with alu heads and a GFK-hood.
I will use a 4l80e (maybe with 24-2500 stall speed) and a 3,08:1 12 bolt posi is next to car already
That should be good for 0-60mph in around 5 sec.
