Default June 23rd Car and Bike show in Cartersville, GA -great cause, need YOU!

It may be a bit early, but I'm posting now.

More info: www.cartersvillefirst.com

Here's the story in short: our Pastor, Stan Wilkins at Cartersville (Georgia) First Baptist Church fell off a ladder back at Thanksgiving and died days later from the injuries sustained. This guy was a car and bike nut, and words can't explain how great of a guy he was. If we raise $15,000 we can secure a seat for his wife on the Board of Trustees at The New Orleans Baptists Seminary.

Clarification: the "seat" for the wife doesn't cost $15,000...thats just the benchmark of dollars raised that allows her that seat. Every penny goes to the Stan Wilkins Memorial Scholarship fund at The New Orleans Baptist Seminary which has a campus in Atlanta.

Here's where you come in...our church is putting on what is becoming a big event on June 23rd, 2007. There will be a motorcycle ride that morning and the bikes will return to the ongoing car show.

There will be plenty of old school...but I need both new and old. I'm in charge of the car show part of this and would love to see you guys attend. It will be from 10am to 4pm and would be a great lil' road trip for you. We'll have an entire section for late model. I know several f-bodies coming, and hope for various vehicles of interest.

Please let me know if you have questions -678-986-0315 or blessedbanker@hotmail.com

I'm attaching the information, well I was but it exceeds the limit for PDF files. Please email and I'll respond with a flier and registration form.

Its a great cause, and will ge a fun event.
Thanks

Good question: The money isn't going to secure the seat, the money is to send young ministers and pastors to seminary. The dollar amount of $15,000 is only a token bench mark. So...if we raise $15,000 in total scholarship money in Stan Wilkin's honor, his wife will have a seat on the Board of Trustees at The New Orleans Baptist Seminary which has a campus in Atlanta. It won't cost $15,000 to secure her seat -that's just the level of commitment we want to have.

To completely answer your question: Stan and his wife were big on education. He has two earned doctorates and was a professor over at Shorter College in Rome, GA and at The New Orleans Baptist Seminary. His wife being on the Board of Trustees enables her to be involved officially with the college and have say so in the distribution of scholarship funds -and on top of that represents our church at the college.

Alan, I might try to make it over there for this...sounds like it could be a good time.

I'll get in touch with you when the date draws closer...or I'll holler at you during the Gathering...

You're coming right?
