yeah thanks for the input craig, im probably gonna weld up a set this spring when i go back to pick up my car good news today. i got TSP called up im sending my heads off in november and ordering my 383 rotating assembly with forged callies bottem end, jon at tsp recommended -8 weisco pistons for my goal of 11.3 CR. i know alot of guys have ran decent set ups and made impressive track times, im trying to get something i can just play with on the streets and track and no it will last when i spray it. somethings up with my car its acting kinda sluggish so im gonna check it out this sunday at a buddies house, clean it up a bit..

Your comparing apples to oranges when it comes to a HMMWV and a F-bodies. 18" compared to 6" before jacking the vehicle up, let alone the tight areas of the F-bodies. Here at Fort Benning your only paying for the lift not the tools. Just trust me on this one!! I know Tim is only 5 minutes away, but I will never pull another tranny on the ground if I have a lift available. Lifts only cost $3.50 an hour, so it's safe to say you'll spend less than $20. Especially I'm there to help. I know all the tricks to get these trannies out.

Pulling trannys on stands is not that hard, I done a gto in 1 hour from start to finish because the guy had to get to work at noon. It was a six speed and his clutch exploded lol, I also done 2 full motor swaps on a c6 vette from athens and one from atl, All on stands. I spent 5 hours on each. Its really not that hard if you know what ya doing and have the right tools. A lift is coming soon im just waiting on these asshats to move out. Oh mike its cool to stop buy but we are going to be working on rons car. Plus I have AC lol. Dont worry ron well get u done.

I know it's not hard in the hands of a skilled wrench turner such as you, Ron, and myself. Yes a tranny can be swapped in less than an hour, I've done it myself. All I'm saying is if you have a lift available why not use it and save yourself the hassle. Even you yourself said its not hard if you know what your doing and have the right tools, well I think a lift is a tool. Plus no laying on your back. And guess what you can still make that paper Tim even though it's not at your shop.

Tim you know your my boy and all, but I'm just used to working smarter and not harder. I'm just stating what I would do. But no matter how it gets done Ron's car will be stalled at the end of the day on Saturday and the 92Z will waiting at the end of his driveway

lol @ craig....yeah man....i see what you're saying....trust me, i understand the whole work smarter not harder....but i don't really think using a lift is worth driving all the way on post and paying a couple bucks for....just my opinion....you forget...i'm still young...i don't mind crawling underneath a car....i know you old guys would rather not crawl under there if you didn't have to though....lol...j/k...

Default Shops in the Columbus area

Can anyone recommend good shops for engine/exhaust work on a 2000 Trans Am in the Columbus area?

I just feel too old to even think about installing headers in my carport, never mind much else.

Thanks

damn greasemonkey, im only 28 and i drive onto post to use the lifts for EVERYTHING!!! i dont mind using manual wratchets, but laying on my back sliding up under an fbody is where i draw the line. been under craigs enough to know its not worth the hassle to save a few bucks. i remamber being a one man tranny under the ROC. it worked good, but there are better ways to do it!

Yup...Outlawz Racing and Performance can hook you up! And at a good price too....shoot him a PM...

i don't blame you....i did my headers in my driveway and it was PITA! of course i did them by myself so that didn't help none....really....just getting the car high enough to fit them was the worse part....all the rest was easy....

anybody know anybody with a car dolly/trailer i could use for like a week? I'm going back home to Minnesota at the end of Sep, beginning of Oct. and I want to trailer my car up there.....Don't want to drive 2 vehicle all that way and we need to take the TBSS to fit all our ****....I would just leave my car but they got a big street racing scene up there and plus my buddy wants to race me with his 350z w/ a 100 shot.....so if you know anybody let me know....i'd rather not spend any money on a Uhaul dolly or anything....

Thinking of adding some power to the TA (at very least heads). IS there a shop in the area that has a good rep and knowledge of our cars? or is the best bet to head up north?

If I dont mod now Ill probably get rid of it, Ive just become bored lately after getting the new car.
