Default Confused about my Firehawk

We bought a firehawk, Badged completely. Ram Air, Has the little Mobile One oil sticker. Dealer code sticker. The lil badge on the console which looks and feels like it was on there professionally, but it says on the inside of the door that it is a late model 97...so 98. I was told they didnt make these in 98. I called slp before i heard that they didnt make them in 98 and they said it was officially a firehawk and that they were sending me a certificate of authenticity. I dont know who to believe or what not. I think it might have been wrecked. I havent even looked on the title to see what year it is. I was just told it was a 98. I thought it was a good replica or something, but its down to the t with the clear running lamps, wheels, badges, ram air. I dont know who or what to believe. I looked in the door. No Wu6 code.

If it's an LT1 car and it was a late '97 then yes it makes sence... maybe. I thought all 29 Firehawks in 97 had the LT4 engine?

If it's an LS1 car I would be VERY skeptical to it being real. There were only around 4 '98's and a couple prototypes not considered real even though they contain SLP content.

What are the details of your car?

Well if it is in fact a 98 firehawk then it wouldnt have a wu6 code but like firehawk #608 said and like i said in the other thread you had......chances are its not a 98 firehawk. Good luck with your search for the truth.

You can buy those mobil 1 stickers off of Ebay...

And which dealer code are you referring to? A sticker from SLP on one of the doors? A GM RPO sticker with the WU6 code? A GM RPO sticker with no WU6 code?

To clarify what has become confusing situation for certian enthusiasts, SLP Engineering, Inc. did not produce any 1998 model year Firehawks at its Montreal, Quebec, Canada production Facilities.

SLP did however add Firehawk contents to 6 1998 model Trans Ams and Formulas. That work was performed at our Troy, Michigan facility. The 6 were purchased locally from Pontiac/GMC dealers, converted in Troy, then used for 1998/9 model year marketing and sales activities.

In addition, it should be noted these vehicles do NOT contain the GM RPO code WU6 option code. While these vehicles do contain Firehawk content, they are NOT considered production Firehawks by SLP.

The (2) stickers I have on the driver's door have the purple slp logo. They are the same size as the normal GM stickers.

If you have a sticker on the passenger door that shows the options on the car.

In my opinion, you wouldn't just stumble upon a 98 Firehawk. Whoever had it would be well aware of what it is and would be using that fact to get more $ for it. BUT.... I don't know all the details of how you came across the car so that's just my 2 cents.

That sticker like say about as big as a quarter and is square? Thats a "campaign sticker" it means a GM dealership performed work to fix a TSB or recall and prevents later GM service tech from doing the same "fix" over again.

As stated above the 98 cars were bought from local dealerships fitted with Hawk parts, and the fixed head lights, then when SLP couldn't get the lights to pass crash tests and or GM quality checks, they got ditched and it all took too long hence why there are no 98 Hawks. The cars then had the pop up head lights re-installed and were sold to the public as Trans Ams/Formulas with SLP content. The 5 spoke Hawk wheels (not ZR-1s like you car has), hurst shifter, SLP dual dual exhaust, and probably a Level II Bilstein suspension under them (blue/yellow shocks). The Hawk hood is a longer hood with the air extractors up closer to the windshield and a body color glue on badge at the very front edge where the hood meets the nostrils. All 99-02 Hawks had to have their front bumpers trimmed to fit with the hood.

2 things you can do to see if this is one of the 98 prototype cars;
1. Call SLP and give them your VIN.
2. Run a car fax and see where this car was first titled. If it was in Troy Michigan or very close then you might have something.

But.... with no pictures and you saying the car has ZR-1 wheels with SLP center caps and Hawk decals (whats the hood look like?) I'm sorry to say but you don't have a real Firehawk or even one of the prototypes. Sorry, hope you didn't pay extra thinking it was a Hawk.

Edit: Not to be a dick but you bought a car without knowing what year it was? I sure hope the title you haven't looked at doesn't say "salvage" on it too. Gotta be more careful in the future man, too many tricksters out there.
