03-04 Cobra or 01 Firehawk
My Hawk is getting up there in age and mileage and since it is my daily driver it has been getting neglected. Anyway, I am thinking of trading it on a 03-04 Cobra. (or maybe even an 06 GTO. I'd really like to have a reliable, streetable car that makes 400+rwhp. (if there is such a thing) I'm thinking the Cobra is the cheapest and most reliable way to get there. Opinions...

If you want honesty I'd say get the '03-'04 Cobra... but that's the only exception for a Furd turd.
If you want the standard crap I'd say keep the Firehawk untill you die... and be buried in it.

I say, force it, keep the looks, keep the legend and keep the speed
I have LOTS of respect for 03-04 terminator cobras...however If I personally had to choose between an 01 hawk supercharged and a 03 bra...hawk hands down.
My buddy tom owns a 01 WS6 and a 03 black cobra, he likes the cobra for the speed...but he CONSTANTLY says "I like the cobra, but what I like MORE is the bird. Thing handles waaaaaaaaay better and Its just begging me to be magnacharged!"
S'all you homie

Banned....well that changes everything... Thanks for all the help guys. I'll probably just hold on to the Hawk for a while longer. Just everytime I hear one of those cobras go by, I just feel like trading the old bird in...

03-04 Cobras are pretty damned expensive.
It is rumored that even though Ford rated them at 390hp, they are actually putting out over 400hp (if you believe anything on wikipedia.org).
Those Terminator Cobras are a straight kick in the fbody nuts - considering they're released the year that GM stops production on fbodies. On the other hand, maybe GM's decision was influenced by knowledge of the 2003 Cobras...
If you can afford it, I say get the cobra, but keep the Hawk..

I love Firehawks. I think I would keep it and dump some money into it.

The cobra looks plain to me as far as looks go compared to a firehawk. As far as performance goes I'd choose the terminator because they are packing some serious oem hp and easy to mod. My boss has one and the first time I drove it I was really surprised. Some may hate the s/c whine but I loved it. Its your choice overall , just choose wisely.

you really cant go wrong with either.. if you want that old muscle car sound go with the ls1 and cam it possibly spray it.. if your happy with a great sounding/looking/450rwhp car put some boltons on the cobra.
i really love the looks of both and want a cobra really badddd butttt, not if it means getting rid of my ws6

I'd say keep the hawk. Alot of Cobras have been beat on, and you dunno what you are getting into. The 03/04 Cobras are about the only good product produced by ford(Don't tell me the Shelby is worth it, cause any sports car that weighs almost as much as a Town Car is a joke). Unless you can find one that you are sure isn't beat on, then don't get it. I'd keep the hawk, maybe get an engine rebuild, and buy a daily driver. Run the DD into the ground, and not the hawk, or the 03 Cobra, should you choose to get it.

Is the hawk paid off? What you need to consider is what you will get in trade or in a private party sale for the hawk, and then consider how much a well kept 03-04 cobra is going to cost you. Most cobras kept in pristine condition in my area are around 28K+, so you will have to cough up say another 13K+ (assuming you get 15K for the hawk) for the cobra, or you coudl spend half that money making your car faster than the cobra. The only thing is that your using the car as a daily driver, so even though your hawk might be a little worn you will be doing the same to the cobra/gto and you need to consider the fact that either of those cars will turn out the same way as you hawk a few years down the road as well. I say keep the hawk, toss in a g5x3 with some prc ls6 heads and a good clutch and have fun.
