Are there any issues with running a 383? As I understand it the liners are pretty thin after honing. Wondering how the rod angle with the 4in. Stroke has an effect on cylinder life.

No issues with 383, typical 408 produces more power for the same price though.

Rod angle is increased over factory, Ran my own 402 for 30k miles, Diamond pistons I had no usual wear. 2618 pistons score very easy, while the skirt may look scored its not worn, skirt mic's same as new.

Increasing stroke will add more angle 4.100, 4.250, issues will be more noticeable.

how will it effect it in this 427 with a 4.100 stroke?

does your 408 and 415/416 use a 4.000 stroke?

Can I get a quote for a 402 or 408 iron short block? No nitrous or forced induction is planned for this engine.

Is it safe to stroke these blocks out to 427, the reason I ask is since I thought the cylinder walls get too thin?? Also can you run boost on this motor??

Price on a 383. Pump gas only. No NOS or anything. Just a steet toy. If you could give me some info on the internals as well.
Thanks.

We have a sonic thickness gauge, we've taken iron blocks out to 4.080, the thrust side of bore measures .200" +/-, the area I find becomes thin is between the bores, at 3 o'clock position, it gets down to .130" wall thickness, not anywhere near the thrust side.

I would not recommend this 427 package for a power adder engine. Our 390 engine is a better overall package for up to 91mm turbocharger, D1SC, etc.

427 shortblock engine in my opinion is the most economical foundation to build a 500rwhp street driven combination. Many people on this forum have ported stock heads, LS3 heads etc. combined with this shortblock should put you at 500rwhp where a 408 would need higher flowing high dollar heads to produce that number.

Compression ratio typically 11-12:1 for a pump gas nitrous engine.

Nitrous i'd stick to 250hp.

Cylinder heads , 317 heads, hand ported, milled, 5 angle valve job 2.02/1.57 valves, gold .650" springs.

Those on a 408, long block, $5990 includes
Cylinder heads installed.
GM MLS gaskets
ARP head studs
Comp Cam
JP Double Row timing set
LS7 lifters, factory lifter buckets

We are also dealer for MAST, TFS, AFR, Patriot
Let me know what you're looking for?
