Very cool BRYAN, and looks like it might work out for the best that Uncle Sam was instrumental in making me hold off on my LS7 430 cid LME motor!

Bryan, I take it if somebody wanted a perfectly square N/A motor built, 482 cid with a 4.250 bore and 4.250 stroke, that you guys could build one of these monster motors on a short deck LSX block?

Hey Jim,

The 4.250” bore x 4.250” stroke is obtainable. The problem lies in the head gasket options. Cometic offers a max id. MLS gasket of 4.200”. At a 4.250” bore the gasket will hang into the cylinders. The only other option at this point w/ a 4.250” bore is running a copper gasket w/ figure 8 O-ring & receiver groove. This would not be my first choice for a NA street engine.

For a large displacement LSX short deck engine I would recommend going with the 454” listed above. This will give you the most options in terms of ring selection. Also your rod to stroke ratio will be much improved over the 4.250” stroke, resulting in more durability and longevity in a street application.

Thanks,
Bryan

Have there been any dynos with the 454. What would you expect it to make with very basic (not top of the line parts) and a cam equal to say a 224 in a 346? Thanks!

This stuff is so new a good number of results wont be around for 6 months to a year.
Basicially this is going to be a very impressive motor that with the right parts should beable to make 700+ flywheel HP in a daily driven car.
If you look at the LS7 motor in the new C6Z06 you can see that 600 RWHP has already be achieved using a ported GM head, and a aggressive camshaft that is aggressive but still daily driven.
The 454 has plenty or bore and cubes to make even more power but a very top notch top end will be the key.
Using something like a ETP LS7 head with a good valvetrain, LS7 manifold, and a solid cam should be a great daily driver and produce well over 600 RWHP.

Good luck on the sale Brian,, looks like some people are gonna have some killer combos real soon.
This is what I have been waiting for.

We have not seen any dyno numbers as of yet. We have a couple of these engines that will be going together in a couple of weeks.

With an LS7 head/ intake and a nice streetable cam you should see around 630RWHP.

Now that's what I'm talking about BRYAN/LME, and can't wait to see some results. I believe I see one of these bad boys in the future once I recover on the hit I took from Uncle Sam!
