Default Alarm Keeps Going Off

To my knowledge, no one tried to break into my car, but for the last 2 days when I wake up the alarm is sounding (2 honks and lights flashing).

And it doesn't seem to stop on it's own.

It also goes off at work about 30 minutes after I leave the car.

When I set the alarm with my lock button on the keyless remote instead of just hearing 2 quick beeps, I know hear those beeps, + 2 honks afterwards.

I unhooked the shock sensor for now, but not sure if that will help.

Does that mean I will have no alarm at all - with the shock sensor unhooked?

Any idea what could be wrong?

Maybe I just need to buy a new shock sensor?

THANKS!!

hmmmm...hard to say without seeing. Your alarm should still go off if someone opens the door, but it wont go off if someone hits it...anything the sensor pics up.

Adjust the sensitivity. My uncles used to be so bad the garage door closing would set his off.

Adjusting the sensitivity on a disconnected shock sensor probably won't help much.

Mine did time a couple months ago. I change the battery on my keyless alarm and it stopped doing it.

Did anyone figure this one out? Mine just started doing the exact same thing tonight after some good rains. 2 loud honks (not the normal beeps when arming) about 20 seconds after arming and then later the alarm goes off. Weird.

edit: Nevermind. Further digging seems to indicate it's the wet weather. I did open the hatch earlier so water probably got down in there. Hopefully it'll correct itself when it dries out. Great design.

I pulled the shock sensor out today and shook it. Low and behold, water splashed out of it. I hope it's not toast. How much do they run?

Part number 10444928, about $40 at the dealer, a little more than half that online.
