Default Raced a turbo cobalt ss

So i'm driving to work today and I see this kid go bookin by me in his new cobalt. He's all super proud of it cuz he raced a grand prix gxp and beat him by 2 cars. Anyway, dude goes by me and is muggin the **** out of me. I keep on drivin, not thinkin anything and as I am about to pass the sonic, the guy pulls out right before I get there and just stops in the middle of the street. I change lanes and ease up next to him doing about 30 and the dude starts to keep pace with me. He looks over with this extreme look in his eyes and he stomps on it. He gets the jump and I stomp it, and pretty quickly start reeling him in. I get to about 80 and I am probably 2 cars ahead. He let off and turned the other way in a hurry. Keep in mind though, that we were on the main drag in town and it is about 2:30 in the afternoon so it's kinda busy. I wanted him to follow me out so we could go for real, but he didn't. I will tell you though, the look on his face as he was on his car and I came around him like that was priceless. Made me feel good. I even kinda wanted a turbo cobalt. Nice cars. Quick too. Just happier with what I got.

Nothing wrong with wanting a turbo cobalt. Nice kill btw. I wonder if he was stock.

according to the mags the turbo balt should be a good run with a stock auto ls1 or a 3valve, R&T had them trapping 104mph. Is this true?

Yeah he was stock. They say that a stock turbo balt should run somewhere close to a 14 flat with a good driver. He isn't a bad driver either. Not sure what the trap speeds are on that. And like I said, that car is quick no doubt about. I just happened to have the faster one today.

I remember reading something along those lines as well. I also recall an article where they put drag radials on an '08 turbo SS and it was running 13's.

R&T ran high 13s with the stock tires.

I get those little high school punks in the Cobalt SS eyeing me all the time. They think they are badasses until I show them otherwise.

I think the new turbo version is a lot faster than the old supercharged version. I have to imagine FWD is nightmare though at those power levels.

Yea it is, i like the new cobalt, that turbo ecotec is pretty nice and runs good, nice kill. P.S. That wing is more ridiculous than the dumdumdumdum's wing though lol. I want to race one in my neon

I like the new cobalts more than the dumdumdumdum's. I havent researched either yet but i wonder how they respond to mods in comparison? Nice kill though, always fun to put someone back in there place, especially after they ask for it.

Just from what experience I have with J-bodies...those ecotechs can be pushed pretty far...

The drag race version of the eco was good up to 500 hp NA, and that was all with GM Performance parts...

Good race...gotta keep those yungens in line

Supposedly GM is releasing Stage kits for them.
Stage one is 310hp.

Nice kill.

I drove one a few weeks ago. Nice little car. Quick but definitely not LS1 quick. Handled really well.

I can see with a few mods, those Cobalts could be made to be fast.

I believe with a competent driver the turbo Balts could easily go 13.60s. They are trapping 102-104. My SRT 4 went 13.76 @ 100 mph with a 2.14 60' bone stock.

And don't get me started on the Caliber SRT 4. They are a pathetic excuse for a performance vehicle.

Me neither. But I think one would make a pretty nice daily driver, good fuel economy and still really fun to drive.

With a tune alone they pick up roughly 50whp and 60wtq.
