Default 02 Mustang GT vs 98 Cobra..video

GT has intake, tb,pullies,catback,3 73s,tremec trans with centerforce clutch and nittos.
Cobra has intake, catback with turndowns and a short throw with nittos also.

It was a friendly race, we were bored tonite so a few of my buddies decided to run.

3.55s are pointless in an N/A Cobra. If you're gonna pay for a gear swap go 4.10 or larger, or just don't bother.

+1 even my 3.73's are the weak sauce, but they came with the car.

Talking about the Cobra, not the GT. But I would get 4.10s in a GT as well, and probably 4.30s if I had an N/A Cobra.

For a N/A Cobra I'd install 4.56's along with a T-56 trans.... i'd even keep that set-up if I had a blower.

Well that's the ideal setup, but I wouldn't go higher than 4.30 if I still had the T45.

That was a slaughter. I thought it would be much closer. The 3.73s are definitely helping that GT out quite a bit. How's the driver mod in both cars?

wow...ok. That one shocked me.

3.55s is dumb to do in that car, even if he goes FI. THe difference between 3.73s and 3.55s is pretty minor, so I can't see how that played a noticable part. The cobra probably has ~20rwhp advantage with a slight weight disadvantage. The T45s have 3650s have very similar gearing too.

Nice kill though, that's for sure. 2-3 lengths (from what I can tell) is pretty good.

BTW - the GT comes stock with a Tremec Tranny. They have for 20 years. And TB's typically do nothing for these cars. Ford did a good job with TB's on the modulars. I wouldn't waste my money on one unless I was going high HP.

GT had the better driver mod for sure.

Now, if the Cobra had stock 3.27s, then I could see the GT winning, but still, only by a length (if driver's were similar).

Not if you drive it a fair amount. I wouldn't go higher than 4.10s with FI..MAYBE 4.30s and that would definitely be with a T56. First gear, and half of second would be utterly useless outside of a track.

Agreed. I had a '96 Kenne Bell Cobra that had 4.30's and it was worthless on the street through 1st and 2nd. I had the 8# pulley and was putting right around 390 to the ground. I was really looking at going to 3.73's before I sold it.

You're all pussies! 4.56 + T45 here. I thought about going 4.88

And when my novi goes on..... 4.10/4.30 + T45.

UH....Mark....your car isn't nec. driven through town/street alot is it?

T45s first gear is??? 3.30 I'd have to double check.....that's a high first gear paired with 4.30s and a blower.
