Default Speeding is Bad

So this past summer, a bunch of people were headed out to the street races. Me being an idiot, I was hauling butt on the interstate. Well I saw a State Trooper when I was doing about 130, but I jammed on the brakes as hard as I could and passed him at 117. It was dark, so I tried to get up the interstate and away from him. There was a lot of traffic way in front of me and behind me and he didnt pull out from what I saw so I figured I had gotten away. Well sure enough he got on my bumper and pulled me over. I received a Wreckless and Prohibited and a Speeding violation also obviously. Well I finally had to go to court for it today. First offense on a W&P is 5 days in jail people! I guess I hit the judge in his soft spot though. He gave me 2 days in jail, 30 hrs community service, a $750 fine (I could for days over this one) and worst of all, if I get another ticket in 6 months, I go to jail for 30 days.

I am 18 and in college. I cant afford this ****.

My record is one speeding ticket prior to this BTW.

Just thought I would rant.

Speeding= So not worth it anymore.

Also I am sure this is different in other states, but here in AR, it royally fucked me.

Sheesh, man. you got hit hard. No worries though, I'm pretty sure you've learned your lesson and a year or so from now this will all be a story you can pass on to everyone else. I remember having to go through all the legal BS for my reckless driving, but it's just a memory now. good luck man.

My friend just called me the other night to tell me they just recently changed the laws here in Montana. Apparently if they catch you going over 100 they can count it as attempted suicide And if you have a passenger? Well there's attempted manslaughter. Lesson? Go to the track.

I guess I had this coming. Im not what you would call a grade A citizen . Haha.

I have had 13 tickets since I turned 16. 9 of which have been dismissed due to going to defensive driving school. (Thats why I miss Bryant.....They never doubted you in court there...."No sir I have never been to defensive driving before") I have the "diplomas" in my room somewhere still. I think I am probably certified to teach that course now haha. 2 were city ordinances which you just pay and thats that. But then there is my first speeding ticket, and my current one. I think I might frame it just for ***** and giggles. I framed my ticket from when I got 11 traffic offenses on a dirt bike and got it impounded! Hell I might make a trophy room out of em.

I couldn't agree more!!! I have two friends who love to street race and when I tell them to go to the track and we'll race, they think I am ducking their 13 second cars Some people on the site will argue that as long as you find a "deserted road" it's all good. To each their own. I would rather go to the track where it's legal. If I get caught I will lose my job for sure. That would include my pension and 20 year retirement all to say I won a street race. No way!!!!

Damn two nights in jail.

Regardless of state laws, going 117 is going to get you in some serious trboule. Common sense should have prevailed.

18 years old and have 13 traffic tickets? you need to grow up. Good luck with getting insurance if you keep this up. Hell, good luck keeping your license. You might also want to think about when you get out of college and need to get a job, because some jobs check your driving record before hiring.

i got a street racing ticket....and i wasnt even racing...my friend and i had loud cars and the cop "called it the way he saw it"....so I toned down my driving a lot over that BS.

my advice... Get a radar detector. (optional...dont stop...)

Yeah, I really don't street race much myself anymore, I was racing a stock 99 ls1 camaro off of a light, beat it. The next day I come up to the same light and there are four cops waiting for more **** to go down. I didn't get caught, but that scared the **** out of me. I think in Illinois its a felony now, so that would include jail time. I have had one ticket, and it was right before I got my camaro , 47 in a 25. I thought the speed limit was 35, got off with court supervision and a 200 dollar fine. Hope you do not lose your drivers license for too long, sometimes you need it for a job.

why would you need to look up the laws? just dont go a rediculous mph on the street and you dont have to worry about it.

Well when you go to defensive driving school they get wiped off your record so there its like they never happened. So my record just shows two tickets thankfully.

Unless you are racing or your wife/gf is having a baby, there should be no reason to go over 80mph. I'll be the first to admit I go over 100 mph a few times a month. I do it in a safe place at a safe time(low traffic) and where I know cops are not sitting. Think twice before you smash that pedal.

From this post it sounds like you drive like a dumb ****, slow down and think twice like others have said.
