Same old GT kill
Black 96 or 97 GT in my housing development that I've been seeing for the past couple of months. Doesn't matter what year, its the 4.6L that only made like 215hp. Euro tailights, loud exhaust, you know the bit. So today we finally exit the development at the same time. He turns on to the four lane road ahead of me with a little bit of gusto shall we say. I don't give chase....why should I....cause he slows down to about 30mph and waits for me to catch up. Okay, fine, wanna play, I'm game. So I swing over to the curb lane, get up next to him, and he floors it. I grab second gear at about 35mph, and before I even have to shift to third, I've got like 4 or 5 lengths on him. Slowed down after I got it up to around 60... I mean, what was the point. I tried to get him to talk about what exhaust or other mods he had, but he wasn't having it. He just blew by me like he won the race or something.....whatever dude. His car did sound damn good though.

the original 4.6L was a complete dog. slowest mustang in years. sure it had the same peak hp (or so ford claimed) of the 5.0, but it sure didn't have the fat torque curve of the 5.0.
although it responded just as well, if not better, to supercharging as the 5.0 did.

Yeah, the thing about the 5.0s is that they were made in an entirely different time. Back in the 80s and early 90s most affordable performance cars didn't have more than 250hp. Now you have a freakin' Honda Accord running around with 240hp. Plus from what I hear many of those 5.0s were factory freaks. I just think its funny that for the past 10 years the F-Bods have out horsepowered the GTs and Cobras each and every year, and its the F-Bodies that aren't made anymore, what a travesty.

Tit Bar, you should know not to take offense to our Mustang rants. I think it's a safe bet to say that everybody on this board knows that you have a nasty Fox and could introduce most of our cars to your taillights...
Btw, what happened to the "GM? No Thanks!" avatar that became synonmous with you?

There are two types of GT owners.
1. The guys who know they are slow but are car enthusiasts so they will race for the fun of it.
2. The guys who honestly believe they are fast.
I think the majority of GT owners fall into the second category. I also believe they think GT's are fast because they have no experience with truly fast cars.
Good kill Zee. Gotta let those 'stang owners know what's up.

the 5.0s were phenominal engines as far as potential goes... because ford is retarded.
yeah, i've been a fan of ford products for well on 10 years now, and i willl repeat, they are retarded. until VERY recently (newest cobras and mach 1s), they couldn't design a cylinder head to save their life.
the 5.0 engine, with no mods other than a head (good aftermarket heads, not ford's idea of perfromance heads) swap, picks up something like 30-50hp. swap the intake as well for something that can feed those heads, and you gain annother 20hp. replace the bumpstick with something a bit more agressive and you're looking at 330-350 bhp out of that engine (that's not ricer math either. i've seen several dyno sheets showing real numbers and impressive torque curves). that's ls1 performance. the difference being that GM was smart enough to give the engine good heads, intake, and cam from the factory (Although obviously you can get better).
stupid ford. they had a monster in hiding on their hands for years and gave up on it.

Speaking of the crappy Ford motors, did anybody read what they said about their Bullitt in the new HotRod issue? I only wish Bullitt was still on the board so we could use it to make fun of him

"THE CURE
Our '01 Bullitt Mustang's odo just rolled 10,000 miles and- let's be honest- it's been 10,000 ticks of way too slow. We'd already hung a few speed parts on it in the Aug 03 issue- including JBA shortie headers, steeda underdrive pullies, an accufab tb, K&N airfilter, 3.73s, and a detroit locker (?), and an FRPP aluminum driveshaft- but the thing was still firing blanks any time we lined up against a bone-stock LS1 car, or even a mildly rubbed Subaru WRX."
After that they just talk about the installation and results, blabla... pretty funny stuff, especially since they compare it directly to the LS1.

What's really funny is that they compared the two, period! WHAT comparison! There is none! As far as the WRX goes, maybe they should have just compared those two. I've pulled on those things from a bus back, and ended up a bus ahead! STOCK! Our motor shouldn't have even been mentioned! If your gonna compare red apples to green apples cool.......... but don't compare the LS1 to that "waste of much needed bolt ons and still gets smoked by a WRX cash."
It wasn't even an STi!!!
Nice kill BTW, Zee.

Yep i just got the Magazine from the store, and i still cant stop laughing. If bullitt was still on the board, he would say 1) it was just a GT with bullitt Badges. HAHAHAAHAH, 2) they could not drive!!
