So i crushed this S/C'd 5.0 Fox body this weekend
Last week a dude I know hits me up. He asked me if my car was broken in an tuned, since she has been down for a while. I tell him yes. Then he insist that i run his buddies from EP. He said they have 5.0's s/c 6psi. He goes on and on about how fast they are. I ask how fast is fast and he says they make 585hp. Im assuming crank hp. THen he tells me about how they run slicks and race gas and there such good drivers. Also says that if i have any other friends who'd like to run to bring them too. Usually pretty fast cars do come from EP, especially in this guys line of work. New car every week! I'll let you fill in the blanks. lol
Either way i agree and we part ways. I run into him during the week, after he followed me to the barber shop, in this bolt on lighting, reving like a clown. He reminds me about this weekends race, and tells me i better show up cuz these guys are trailoring their cars down. I told him i wouldnt race if they were on slicks or spraying nitrous. He assures me they wont be but im not buying it.
Friday night comes and they show up in a mexican motorcade smelling like race gas. I must admit i was pretty intimidated since i was by myself cuz none of my friends made it. They were tripping over themselves to race me and was ready to throw down 2k. I dont got that kinda money and told them we should just race for fun. I was glad i made that decision when they popped the trunk and showed me the huge nitrous bottles that they swore were not hooked up
We set up the runs and got to it.. Lets just say i should have matched their
2k.....

P.s. the vibration noise is the bolt rub issue i had when i let air out of the brag bags... all fixed now though

6 PSI and these are the big ballers trailering their cars around? What was the race gas for? LOL.
Great kills, I think these guys must have read too many supercharger advertisements instead of actually racing.

The "race for fun" could have been to bait you in for the $2k later. Unless you're a big baller, you better know exactly what you're getting into before throwing down that kind of $.

No and depending on what it had 6psi would not make 585hp crank or wheel. Hell i have heads, cam, intake, this that and everything under the sun on my stang and with a S/C making 10psi i made 450rwhp with a better s/c like on that stang with 10psi i woulda probably been around 500-550rwhp. I think someone was lying about their hp rating or trying to hustle you. And a stock 5.0 stang with 6psi would make around 300-330rwhp i'm gonna say a stock LS1 would give it a hard time
Nice kill though s/c or not the stang owner should have known not to mess with a TT'd GTO unless he was pushing 10-15psi and a nice H/C/I combo.

Yea its not much but here is a quick video of it when it was turbo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHe3pvT4810 Open downpipe and the cam was grinded for the N/A motor so the turbo and it didn't get along that well. Man I miss the sound of the whistling through the exhaust at part throttle. That was sex!

My buddy that was doing the recording has a 03-04 Cobra with a w/ 2.8 whipple making 600whp. Being a mustang fan he said that the blocks these guys had were head and cam and exhaust w/ blower + nitrous but it was most likely a n/a cam an the superchargers were an after thought, coupled with a lame tune and little boost= failure for them. I really was expecting them to spray me good or claim 6 psi and run like 15 or better.

^Depends on the stang. My buddy's GT was in the 3200-3300 lbs range without him in it. Add a blower kit and you're not too far off from the average LS1 fbody's 3500lbs without driver. if it's down 10-20 hp then it will make for a very good race.
