I wouldn't say it is the same. It was a collaboration job between Mitsubishi, Hyundai, and Chrysler known as a GEM engine (so is the 4b11t though). The block itself is a slight variation made by Hyundai though and based off the 4b11 (nearly identical). It doesn't bare many similarities other than the 4b11t's block though (different internals, etc).
Also, apparently the 4b11t has a semi-closed deck and the Genesis has an open-deck design. Apparently some shops believe 400whp will be easy on stock block/internals with the right supporting mods, etc. The rods and pistons aren't forged though, so I doubt they'll see much over 400whp...
FYI, the 4b11t has seen over 500awhp on stock internals from what I've heard (not entirely sure though).

I still don't like the sound of an I4

BTW, who kicked sand in proporio's vagina? The Ford hating/ignorance in the SR&K section is getting old...

yeah **** fords!

jk. IIRC the machs make 260-280ish depeding on tranny, and the auto mach's are slower due to gearing or lack of compression, i dont remember, but not slow by any means. a procharged mach will kick the crap out of your car proporio, so id stfu.

Thanks guys thats why there are so many other makes on this section. Intelligent car lovers that can appreciate any brand thats fast and good looking. Lord knows I have owned my share of GM's. Anyhow Sick mine made 264RWHP with just a K&N drop in. Went 13.7 bone stock. Both the sticks and the autos have 3.55's stock. Motors are exactly the same except autos have a cast crank, and sticks have a forged crank. Redline is 5800 for auto and 6800 for sticks.

Before I owned my current lt1 camaro, my boy that sold it to me raced a auto mach 1. The mach pulled him by about a car bone stock to bone stock. Is that similar with your experience or no?

Funny I actually owned and raced a 1994 LT1 auto formula. Bone stock it went 14.0. My Mach bone stock went 13.7 which sounds about a car or so.

13.7 seems subpar though...i mean my 2v gt ran 8.8 in the eighth stock which is around a high 13 but i know a mach would've sill yanked me

and my buddy had an lt1 and i have a 2v gt and my other buddy had a 4v and he would yank us both 2+ cars easy...probably closer to 3 cars. we were both stock. he had a jlt intake and thats it.

anyway, nice runs

13.5-13.7 is average for an automatic mach 1 if I remember correctly.

Yes you are correct due to the higher redline on the sticks and the fact the 4V's love to rev. Short times were in the 1.9 range with the stock converter. There were some auto trans safeguards in the stock tune that you could feel the difference. With the stock tune it would pull timing just before a shift. Just a cat back CAI and tune I went 13.3.

Not me, until recent( i.e. LS1 Tech ) I thought all Mach1 were ****... A friend of mine designed that car for ford..( George Hussman of Classic Design Concepts In Wallen MI) But still i had no idea the cars had a 3v right? Seen some fast mach1s on here thats for sure.

Last few time i raced a mach1 in my Z when it was stock, I Smeared every one, i ran 13.01 @ 107 all day long stock.. so maybe mine was a freak but i had never meet a fast mach1 till on here.

All Machs are 4V's. S197's with the exception of GT500's are 3V's. 4V's love the spray.

Uh...what? George is saying he designed the mach one? As I know it, Scott Hoag lead the team and contacted CDC to help design the shaker kit.

I worked at AutoLign MFG when the LS body kit was built by AutoLign and CDC.. and it was said in one of the meeting that the Mach 1 was George's design, So as you can imagine i was going on what i had heard from Them.
